It’s been remarkable to be part of Charlotte’s amazing journey - so many field discoveries all packed together - from Woods Hole to Villfranche. Incredible creativity, tenacity & rigor - unraveling mysteries of Placozoans & more. Her thesis feels like a who’s who of marine biology.

My first PhD paper with Prakash Lab is out in its final form! Here we uncover the many folded forms of Placozoa and how cilia unfold them. Enjoy the paper and our stop motion summary of this story! www.pnas.org/doi/10.1073/...

What if plate tectonics had something to do with development? We found a new framework for dynamic origami in tissue folding in a nerveless animal. Will share thread; but if you are at #cellbio2024, see @cbrannon.bsky.social poster B399 today. Not at ASCB; read www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1...

If you're attending #CellBio24, I'll be giving a talk in the Collective Cell Behavior subgroup this afternoon in room 33B. Excited to share a fun story about active origami driven by cilia - from my PhD work in the @prakashlab.bsky.social!

Coming to #CellBio24 this year? Posters/Talks/Booths from our lab. Grace, Ray(2), Charlotte, Jiju, Qing are presenting posters, Charlotte, Qing, Ray & Manu giving short talks. Hongquan & Jim/Hannah/Brian/Ken at Cephla & Foldscope booths respectively. Lots of surprises 😱 in store if you find us.
