Legislation 👍🏻 I would have been satisfied with the reinstatement of the 1976 Lougheed Policy, which protected #Alberta water for nearly 50 years. Setting aside the needs of people and animals, coal mining west of #Lethbridge remains an existential threat to our multi-billion agriculture industry.

Prairie Sentinels Shadow Stanger Cyanotype, 2026 An image from the current exhibition at CASA of student work from the Art Department U of #Lethbridge that resonates with this prairie boy. BTW a cyanotype is a camera-less photographic process that uses sunlight to create monochromatic prints.

Couldn’t get tickets for Madam Butterfly 🦋 today (rats) but was able to tour Danish #architect Jørn Utzon’s iconic #Sydney Opera House. A recent $300 million renovation has fixed the acoustic issues around the stage and updated all electrical etc. and other systems for decades of future use. 👍 👍

The ocean swell is 3-4 meters today as we cruise around the Southwest corner of #Australia toward Albany. The 71,000 ton Zaandam is moving with it and many of the passengers and crew are looking pale.

I found a #Canadian connection in Thurston Park Suva #Fiji. A monument dedicated to the memory of O.J. Marks, of Marks and Co. who drowned in the St. Lawrence River in the disastrous sinking of the Empress of #Ireland. Read about it and weep 😪 BTW the water fountain still works. Yay 😅

Next stop for me will be Cook’s Monument on the Big Island of #Hawaii. TBH he’s one of my heroes. 🤷‍♂️ History’s greatest navigator/explorer worked his way up from very humble beginnings and poverty in #Yorkshire. His advancement and accomplishments in the Royal Navy were entirely due to #merit.

A statue of King Kamehameha I in front of the Hawaiian Supreme Court In the early 1800s he united this archipelago into a unified kingdom. In the 1890s American planters led by the Dole family staged a coup d’état and overthrew the government, leading to the annexation of #Hawaii by 🇺🇸 in 1893. 🤔

Attended services yesterday at the #Episcopal Cathedral in the historic centre of #Honolulu #Hawaii. An outstanding example of Gothic Revival #architecture built from locally quarried stone; exception being the arches, pulpit and font, carved in #England under the direction of HM Queen Victoria.
