I got tired of truncating a story down into 300 characters. Whittling it down to a few phrases. So this time I am trying breaking the story into parts in the comments. Let me know if you think this works. I don't know. Feels strange to have a short story broken into parts.

1. (start of story. Story in 4 parts) She had no clue what it all meant. She'd found the Lost Syllabus and the Phoenix Feather on the edge of Nowhere but she couldn't put the pieces together. What was she missing?

4. She was lucky grampa had been in a good mood and lent him to her. She wouldn't have been able to travel this far without him. She sure hoped the pumps worked. She headed into the gas station to pay but all she saw was a skeleton sitting behind the counter. Well, shit.

3. Maybe there was a barn or hangar nearby. Rain wasn't good for Hiro's joints and she promised grampa she'd take good care of him if she could borrow him for this journey. Hiro had great mileage and was good at squashing vampires too.

2. She glanced up at the sky. It was growing darker. A storm was coming in. Well, at least she could fuel up grampa's mecha Hiro if this station sold gas. She wasn't sure. The gas pumps looked a tad rusty as if no one had stopped by here in a very long time.

--- note on style of Edward Hopper. The style of Edward Hopper isn't in the painting style. Anime is definitely the dominant style. But if you look at the retro look of the gas station, the desaturated palette with the touch of lit amber and the somber mood, you'll see a hint of EH. Just a hint.

The phone rings. An empty phone booth echoes in the night. I turn to look. Only a fool answers the phone. Curiosity killed the cat ... but satisfaction brought him back. Curiosity is going to be the death of me. Well, here's hoping I have nine lives. The end? #synthart #dnd #cyberpunk

The drow twisted midair. The Beholder’s melting ray barely nicked her boot — sizzling heat snipping a few silver threads. “Hey! My boots!” Snarling, she fired. The bullet slammed into the giant pupil. Splatter! “No one messes with my boots.” @sexyjutsuai.bsky.social #RAIndomEncounters 13 14 25
