Castlevania: Belmont's Curse demo was enjoyable. It looks like a good mix of HK/PoP-inspired levels and mechanics with the whip combat and movement thrown in. I'm eager to see the rest of it and I'm glad Konami hasn't completely buried the franchise.

All done, total weight with the puck is around 350g, and it doesn't move when I grab the controller, and it kinda looks cool just sticking there. Tungsten would have been awesome, but for $3 in weights, a free 3d print, and a failed $7 test, I'm happy 🧵7/7

Print turned out great, the tray was smaller that I envisioned but the math said it would work. I grabbed some fishing weights from walmart, pulled the wire leads off and flattened the weights slightly with a hammer. Then glued them down so it wouldn't rattle 🧵6/7

I did some basic math, BBs in that volume would be close to the Mechanism weight (335g), and lead would be close to 350g. So I went shopping while the print was running. 🧵5/7

The problem is that the puck is magnetic, whereas the other docks just use the weight of the controller to make contact with the charging pins. So a typical stand/dock needs 2 hands to disengage, or the stand moves when you grab it. Quite the 1st world problem. 🧵2/7

🧵more controller geekery: Love the Steam controller but I had been spoiled by having controller docks. Until you have one, you don't realize how great it is to just grab a controller from the dock, and have someplace to put it where it will charge effortlessly. The puck is nice but not enough 🧵1/7

At first I didn't like this guy because the alt mode just wouldn't stay together. Turns out the way the legs peg into his butt have to be just so or else nothing else will work. Once I found that, the whole thing locks together amazingly well and is really cool, I love it now

Masters of the Universe: I wasn't a fan as a kid but I've seen the cartoon and the 87 movie. I thought it was fine, loved how they leaned into the camp and silliness. My 9yo boy *fucking loved it* though, well done. Thankfully the PG-13 rating is a risque PG and not an R that barely cleared

Same with the Cyclone 2, but it has a Switch and dinput mode that can use gyro, which has made it great for Switch emulation. I'll have to test emulators with the steam controller to see if it. Right now the SC is taking over the role the G7 Pro used to have, but we'll see 🧵11/11

One of them has to go. The TT Pro already spends most time connected to the Batocwra box in the living room, it's awesome d-pad and symmetrical layout are perfect for retro gameplay. The G7 pro is the go-to for anything that used the usual Xbox layout, and I still like its clicky buttons. 🧵10/11
