My friends and I set up a Melty Blood Type Lumina charity bracket at locals. It raised over $1,100 for local LGBT youth housing assistance.

I made my first ever pie, with unique apple varietals from local farms now that it’s apple season. It turned out a good deal better than I expected so I will be making more.

Behr draws on a huge range of scholarship across history, theology, criticism, and philosophy to break assumptions of traditional Johannine interpretation while remaining highly coherent. At times a dense read but never uninspiring.

I was astonished by the precision and care with which Cornwall elevates so many forms of trans and gender variant experiences in this book. A master class in richly life-affirming Christian theology in every way. This book is a treasure.

Like the topics it discusses, this is a multivalent, entangled book. Its highly creative approach to trinitarian exposition shows how the doctrine destabilizes privileged binaries in profound ways.

Excited to read more of Coakley after this collection of essays. I was struck by her lines of thought regarding the Eucharist as an inherently gender-destabilizing ritual. I also think her trinitarian reading of mystical theology will be crucial in establishing a theology of transgender experience.

This might be Gregory at his best. His relentless rationality that unifies social justice and mystical theology is condensed in these accessible, timeless sermons.

Finished this over the weekend. Short but broad in scope, with a mix of obscure ideas and strong insights. I also enjoyed the highly interactive footnotes from translator Catharine P. Roth.

I got the first study bible that uses the NRSVue; it’s great to have a text that incorporates up-to-date work in lines like trauma hermeneutics and queer theology.

I really like Behr’s rigorous textual criticism which opens a new perspective on a heavily reinterpreted theologian.
