This has implications about antisec I partially agree with, but it can't be a principle all the way. What about making a technical advance that forces other businesses to adapt or become uncompetitive?

It would possibly not be more sample-efficient than ANNs because all of evolutionary history is a lot of samples

idk how to do it ob the whole, but maybe cashews or other fatty tender nuts could help? doesn't solve texture though, that's the hard part

Also imo the way llms writing is the complete opposite of autistic

Causal Soup 🏴 @causalsoup.bsky.social · 03/10/2026
I think we need to be very careful with detectors especially testing out of sample but I don't believe the autism (or alternatively, non-native speakers) thing. That would imply for example you can tell wether someone is autistic just by their writing.

That doesn't follow. For one, there is post-training. It would also require LLMs do their job perfectly. It is a cat and mouse game to some extent, but being a cat is easier here

I doubt it works at the level of 4 words strings, or you would have a lot more false positives

Belief in an ontological difference would require the pope is an animist which is even more funny
010
Causal Soup 🏴 @causalsoup.bsky.social · 03/10/2026
The pope having a nonsense take on this is not surprising but I did not expect him to not even understand what ontology means lol (he's confusing with ontogeny)

the thing is 'having a personality' and 'acting a personality' are less different than people think, both in AI and humans. Like you're essentially making a robot tulpa. The personality being externally crafted doesn't really matter that much, it's more about feedback loops and control after

But arguably the parts of darwinism than were inspired by the breeding analogy or that gave social darwinism are precisely the parts that were wrong

And then agency utilitarianism avoids this entirely by being objectively mesurable (in principle) The small minorities it'd be actually positive to sacrifice are not the ones current discourse talks about, would look more like killing certain world leaders and billionaires

Some scenarios of "person A needs a wheelchair more than person B needs candy" are just obviously true even in the absence of a market to reveal them, I don't want to pretend it's not real just because it's hidden sometimes.

Causal Soup 🏴 @causalsoup.bsky.social · 17/09/2026
I mean, any decent ethical theory is going to run into the fact that a lot of things a not easily knowable and applying is therefore messy. Utilitarianism just makes it more explicit.

I mean, that's the entire point of science fiction? It takes a scientific idea and imagines what it could be if more advanced. You could say this about spacecrafts, holograms, etc

'AI' has been the name of that subfield of CS since forever. It is factually what we refer to as AI. I don't understand the point of this weird language gatekeeping from people not even in the field who learned the term a few years ago. Like, it's not even implying the AI is good at what it does

But what you're doing is the polar opposite of that. And the quote just sounds like someone annoyed over being critically analysed

some people people think they're owed cultural success and take any criticism as an attack. Like, to really steelman this it could be about how some viewers adopts easy narratives about a piece of media to feel on top of the discourse and superior without really engaging with the media.

It's also a tone that can mean the equivalent of parenthesis in writing sometimes

Causal Soup 🏴 @causalsoup.bsky.social · 26/08/2026
As a native speaker I never consciously thought about that before. But I'm confident I see what you mean, and it's something mostly in media/discourses and has to do with saving breath I think, typically in the later part of long sentences between breaths. And yeah, more common in women

For anyone who want to read more into this: immerautonom.noblogs.org/sex-desire-a... The original take is more like “rape is not about being overwhelmed by desire, it is about the exercise of power”. And in fact abusers often don't even perceive their power as power

10-20 bit watermark gives you a 1 in 1000-1000000 false positive rate and choosing between the 1000000 best outputs wouldn't degrade performance much? Unless I'm missing something. As long as the output is more than a couple words this is a pretty small part of the message entropy

I mean fear of teleporters is crypto-dualism due to a religious cultural background, which is *the* thing that historically tries to makes death look less bad. I suppose there's a horseshoe here with how much you can bear identity ending where both extreme don't fear death but only one teleporters

Sorry to get back to this after forgetting about it, but for exemple PTSD is generally triggered by a specific psychological trauma, are you saying it stays latent or something in someone from the moment of anesthesia to the moment of trauma? I'm not sure I understand

The T gel/cream is to counter the other effects you mention here, particularly the skin thing. It won't increase semen production. There's always non-zero systemic effect but that's normally negligeable with low dose

(I interpret organisational skills as like, being able to come up with plans. A common adhd pattern is doing so but then not following up on it more than a couple days)

Ok maybe I'm over-extrapolating from having thought that about myself in the past in which case ignore. But committing to a planner is also the kind of thing adhd makes hard
