Cat-sitting this weekend, and it is really making me appreciate just how focused my cats are. Judith can be very single-minded, and Carrot will keep trying until he figures out how to get available food. I wonder if that comes somewhat from training or if it's what makes them good at training.

This was Judith getting cozy just a few months after I brought her inside after I found her hiding under some stairs from a snowstorm. In the spring of 2020, I had a lot of time on my hands and her as my only company. That's a large part of how I got into cat training. #catsofbluesky

The last time we had a balcony, Judith would actually knock on the window when she was ready to come in. She wouldn't do it repeatedly or meow; she would knock twice and then just wait patiently for me to open the door, even if it took 10 minutes. I did not teach my cat to do this. #catsofbluesky

Converted my mom's old potted plant stand into a cat tree this week. It's proving a good distraction while it is too cold for them to go outside.

One of my first pictures of Judith from today in 2019. From day one she was as gentle, polite, and sweet as could be. The incredible thing in retrospect is that I later learned she had a badly infected broken tooth at the time without showing the slightest sign of aggression or grumpiness. #cats

Today I learned that if I put a blanket in for a cushion. Judith will happily ride in the bike pannier I use for grocery shopping while I ride my ebike slowly and wear the backpack with Carrot in it. A rare occasion that I miss life with a car.

Captain Carrot did not see me put his food bowl down this morning and looked around in confusion. I pointed at it. Carrot looked straight at the bowl for half a second and resumed searching around, having registered nothing. Finally a synapse fired and he looked at it again in amazement.
