So if using the top tier AI costs 3+ USD per question, I'd have to spend around 10 USD per day or 300 USD per month or ~3000 USD per year ... Which, to me, seems too expensive for something you're not even sure is any good...

This one question cost me all the free credits (which apparently is 3 credits = 3 USD/month). The solution didn't work. I could not do follow up questions because I ran out of credits. So I didn't know if AI would have found an actual solution (and maybe the same as my solution).

I didn't use these IDE integrated coding agents before. I'm using Rider so I installed the Jetbrains AI plugin, selected the Junie agent and picked Claude Fable 5.1 (I heard it was one of the best). It's the first time I used AI that could access my code and the engine source code.

It took me a few hours to find a solution myself the old-fashioned way by looking at the Unreal engine source code and searching online on forums and reddit posts. The solution was a single line of code.

I got tired of people telling me I should use AI to speed up the development of my game. I ran into a problem today, solved it myself first, then tried if AI could do it. Spent all the free credits on this 1 question and the solution didn't work. Using AI as a solo dev is just too expensive.🧵⬇️ #noai
