One of my coworkers is currently undergoing treatment for cancer, and while at her appointment on Friday her car burst into flames in the parking lot and the engine exploded. Luckily no one was injured. But 2026 - y’all need to settle down.

What is it like to be a pedestrian or bicyclist in Des Moines? Just witnessed a pedestrian almost get hit by two different cars trying to cross the street while they had a clear green walk signal. Right after that I saw someone literally driving in a green painted bike lane.

I picked up, and moved a praying mantis yesterday so it didn’t get stepped on by other people. It flew away from me and hovered over a grassy area and landed. What fascinating creatures.

An accident that could have very well killed a cyclist, happened to be caused by someone who was drunk behind the wheel and driving without a license. “Police said 34-year-old Demetrius Patterson Carrington faces several charges, including second-offense OWI and driving while barred.”
