My opinion...

I am looking for a new role in a tight Seattle job market. So far this week I've had 6 interviews: every one was w/ an AI prompt platform. Tomorrow I have three more - two with AI which will decide if I go forward, and one a follow up w/ a human from a previous AI call. #AILife #2026jobhunting

buying her cards for about 10 years now. They come with the design (obviously 😁) and then I color them in w/ either the colors I know someone likes (usually applies more to my women friends, but not always). Or if I don't know, I focus more on the season. I *think* people enjoy receiving them...

Last night was 'coloring' night 🙂 This is the other item I added color and cheer to. I buy these birthday cards from an artist in Portland, OR, and usually buy them by the dozen. I'm showing the back of one of the cards incase anyone wants to order any. I've never met the artist, but I've been
Three cards are on a yellow linen background. One card is backwards so as to show the name of the artist. One of the other cards has the design, but is not colored in. And the third card, is fully colored in shades of purple and blue w/ green leaves.

I just assumed these were two events: each a woman w/ the animals separately. I also made assumptions about the horse video, however, I chose not to about the eel one... But you think it was an eel doing things to the horse? I'm not disagreeing, just trying to figure out how that gets a guy off 😎

@absintheofcolor.bsky.social I just saw your response to my post and yes, in cards that's one of the styles I use. The other styles I honor/emulate are: Rothko, Calder, and Ellsworth Kelly. All favorites of mine. But a total coincidence - I just saw this post 👇and look on the back wall. 😎

A friend of the family in his 80's & still running his own business, created a t-shirt design w/ me in mind & sent one to me. So of course need to send a thank you note 🙂 One of the things I do when I send notes (not Xmas cards) is always add a little piece of art 🎨 It's never fancy just cheerful:
A card that is blank for writing yet, but is colored on the top with a geometric design.

Pretty clear metaphor and a good one! (Except unfortunately those w/ too many acorns don't actually feel it's a problem, only society does...) And what makes this even more timely is that this is an acorn mast year. Brilliant 🌰

I believe she made 8 of these Maman statutes. I know a couple stay in their museum's space permanently and I believe a couple travel to other museum's and then stay there for 6 months to a year. Here is a good documentary about her. She was a firecracker! 🧨

Okay, I'll join the club... As I have looked at other's, I see SO many albums I have loved, listened to often, and consider a 'part of my life' as it were. The ones I chose though were *extra* special to me and all of them for kinda different reasons. The only extra I couldn't fit was Van Halen 🎶🎵
A poster of nine albums which include: Supertramp, Breakfast in America; The Cars, CandyO; The Knack, Get The Knack; Fleetwood Mac, Rumors; The Rolling Stones, Some Girls; Prince, Purple Rain; Cyndi Lauper, She's So Unusual; Third Eye Blind; Elvis Costello, All This Useless Beauty

Spooky bird stories. My Halloween comic from 2024.
A comic titled Spooky Bird Stories. In panel 1, a turkey vulture is telling stories to other vultures, and it says, "She walked toward the source of the terrible smell. She got closer and closer, and then, to her horror, she saw... No dead body." A black vulture says "No!" and a turkey vulture says "Did someone already eat it??" In panel 2, a northern cardinal is telling a story to some songbirds. It says "They peered through the windows of the house at the gory scene. Zombies had smashed through the door in the night. The homeowner was dead. But worst of all... He hadn't refilled the feeders." An eastern bluebird says "Aaah!" and an American goldfinch says "It can't be!". In panel 3, A screech owl is telling a story to other owls. It says "And then the ghost fluffed itself up really big to appear scarier." A saw-whet owl gasps, and a long-eared owl says "Horrifying!". In panel 4, a downy woodpecker is telling a story to other woodpeckers, and says "The eerie sound rang through the dark woods. Tap-tap. Tap-tap. It was the distinctive two-part knock of the Ivory-billed Woodpecker. The species had returned from the dead... FOR REVENGE." A red-cockaded woodpecker says "Yesss".

Are those to sell, use for art/decoration, or for general use? As a side note: I don't get to State Fairs as often as I would like, but when I do, I always check out the quilts. They are SO beautiful.

I listened to Slate Political Gabfest for about 15 years & finally quit last year I mostly listened for John Dickinson's analysis & thought if I ever stopped listening it would be b/c David Plotz had finally annoyed me to my last nerve. But interestingly I finally stopped b/c of Bazelon: BubbleBabe

On a trip to the Galapados, our guide explained how multiple male green sea turtles will climb on a single female, all trying to mate w/ her, until she drowns and then no mating happened at all. I think of that often b/c I normally wouldn't associate turtles w/ aggression.

I waiting for FOX to create an AI version of Jesus and then 'interview' him on air and have him completely agree with their positions on every issue. Heck, maybe it will be become a Friday night show: "The Jesus Hour" and he can reinforce whatever culture issue they bring up...

I wonder why? Do you think they can only put one name, so they default to the newest one? Has the youngest voted yet in a primary? In TX do you have to vote in a specific party primary, or is it open? I wonder if the youngest doesn't have much history so they're considered more persuadable?

I watched this when it came out & really dug it. I already find him super funny, but in addition to the humor, I adored the *structure* of this special. I also often listen to his weekly YT post before falling asleep at night, as it's nice to have one night a week I go to bed smiling and laughing 😁

I'm so sorry for your loss. 💔 I saw someone write last week about losing their pet, and they said: from the second we met, till the moment I had to say good-bye, there was nothing in between but unconditional love. I found that comforting because it's so accurate. 💚

My step-mother actually changed the end of that nursery rhyme from "if I die before I wake..." to: "and in the morning when I wake, show me the path of love to take." She didn't want us going to bed having depressing thoughts 🙂

That's what I was going to say 🙂 Donate to community theatre, a college drama program or even a high school. I know the fur part might bother some folks, but: 1) you didn't buy it, & 2) those foxes have been dead for probably 60+ years now. At least it would still be used & for the arts...

The Nordstrom flagship store in Seattle has a coffee shop/bakery, a nice(maybe one grade below "fancy") restaurant & bar, & I think there might be a second bar on the top floor. So it does still exist, but I think it's pretty rare. Whenever my ex-bf's mom was it town, we go shopping & lunch there 🙂

Butterbutt. An older comic.
A four-panel comic titled "yellow-rumped warbler poem". In panel 1, a yellow-rumped warbler stands on a branch in a late autumn scene, and says "Fall is here." In panel 2, the warbler watches a brown leaf fall to the ground, and says "Winter's near." In panel 3, the warbler faces the viewer as brown leaves fall, and says "Need some cheer?" In panel 4, the warbler is showing its luminous yellow rump, and cheerfully says "See my rear."

We follow a different crowd 😎 But now I'm going to spend part of the day thinking about the logistics of having sex in an air balloon b/c: 1) the inside base isn't the large, and 2) the pilot is right there Hmmm, is there a curtain and is this happening standing up...

☝️Is wonderful also! And did you see Mike McCready perform it on guitar last week at the Seahawks opening game? It reminded me so much of Jimi Hendrix (who was born and raised in Seattle), plus on the 9/11 anniversary - made this rendition really powerful to me. 🎸🇺🇸

And actually, as I'm writing this, I'm thinking: I should just make stock w/ the bones in the freezer since the outcome will take up less room than the base components... It would be two full batches of both beef and chix, but when reduced... more room for soup and stew leftovers :)
110
Catherine Lancaster @catlancaster.bsky.social · 28/09/2026
TY! & yes I do :) I keep homemade: chix, beef, seafood, & veggie in my freezer at all times. I often have lamb stock too, but only in winter. I'm sure you have the same... (sidebar: one issue that 'plagues me' is the beef & chix bones in the freezer for future stocks take up so much space 🙂)

This appeals to me a lot and maybe I'll try this for the crust rather than the puff pastry. Totally open to this - thanks! No one has suggested it - but I'm wondering if adding a little bit of curry powder might make the base 'wake-up' a little more...
120
Catherine Lancaster @catlancaster.bsky.social · 28/09/2026
That's why I want to move to the puff pastry, but at the same time --> I want more ummph in my base... (Do not read that the wrong way! 😁) I add Worcestershire for umami, and that helps - and while I don't want to turn it into a gourmet version, I'm looking for more: ?? interesting base...
210
Catherine Lancaster @catlancaster.bsky.social · 28/09/2026
I think puff pastry instead of a pie crust is what I'm leaning towards this time. The other issue I find is that sometimes I find the base bland. That's what I want to put a spark to. When the base comes out boring but I put a lot of work into the crust - it feels really unsatisfying.
110
Catherine Lancaster @catlancaster.bsky.social · 28/09/2026
TY! And that's one of the two/three I saved to kinda 'marry together.' I also saved the Martha Stewart one, but more for how that one thickened the base. Then I saved this (a site I've never used before: thecountrycook.com) for how they handled a puff pastry top.
