Good luck!! I was once interviewed for a job by a guy I had previously employed, it was actually fun! The conversation went all kinds of unusual ways.

People who say this sort of stuff obviously don't read much...

I find audio books take much more concentration than reading physical ones! Too easy to miss things

Currently reading The Incandescent by Emily Tesh. So good to be enjoying a good book after a couple of recent disappointments.

Just started The Incandescent by Emily Tesh, pretty sure one of you was reading that last week?

All of them? Particularly like Addie LaRue and the Villains series. Haven't read the last of those yet, looking forward to it!

Nice example!! I've been using my tags mostly as a way to note which in the series they are so it's easier to sort in series order:

That's an interesting stat to track, must investigate!

I use LibraryThing & the search seems excellent, have only come across one really obscure book it couldn't handle. I usually add by scanning the bar code, pretty sure Storygraph has this too? Have added a Storygraph app to see if I like it, feels odd without all the history though.

The first of 2 slightly disappointing books this week - I love much of Kuang's work, &this one about a young woman's time at an intensive Chinese course in Taiwan seemed right up my alley. It is wonderfully written & a few good anecdotes about learning, but was really hoping for more...fun maybe? 📚💙

Evening Womble! I'm reading The Art of Legend by Wesley Chu, also somehow started Taipei Story by RF Kuang.

The Art of Legend by Wesley Chu. Also picked up Taipei Story from the library & it's calling to me!

Oh wow, I wish my university library had looked like that, I wouldn't ever leave!

Looks like a good month. I finished The Glass Hotel yesterday, got hooked & read way longer into the night than I should have! Need to find Sea of Tranquility soon.

My favourites this month were the first 2 of Wesley Chu's War Arts Saga, lots of action & excellent characters. Loved the grumpy old female martial artist who is the main character.

Well that sounds cool, will have to check that one out!

Pretty sure my library has these, just keep getting pushed back as there are so many books I want to read! I will get there eventually. I mostly read from libraries, I have bought a few lately though.

Exactly! Hobb has several characters who end up being couples in the Realm of the Elderlings, but it never feels in-your-face, it's just part of normal life. Or as normal as Realm of the Elderlings gets.

Have you read this one yet? Have been meaning to get to the Soldier Son trilogy, loved all the Realm of the Elderlings books!

And yes that is a LOT of reading. Had almost finished a couple at the start of the month & also had a few sick or injured days, which is a pain of course but reading always helps recovery.

Sept reads - what an excellent reading month!! 3 fantasy sagas, 3 sci-fi, 2 romantasy, 1 apocalyptic, 2 NF. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐favourites the 2 War Arts books by Wesley Chu, and Alien Clay, and The Mountain in the Sea was up there as well. The 2 NFs were fascinating. Only one not for me was The Everlasting. 📚🐉🪐💙
Covers of:
The book of Azrael by Amber Nicole
The Mountain in the Sea by Ray Nayler
A different kind of Power by Jacinda Ardern
The Everlasting by Alix E Harrow
The Art of Prophecy by Wesley Chu
Gallowglass by S J Morden
Big Sister, Little Sister, Red Sister by Jung Chang
The Art of Destiny by Wesley Chu
Unprepared by Gavin Shoebridge
Alien Clay by Adrian Tchaikovsky
Beyond Sundered Seas by David Green

I'm VERY slowly working out why I like what I like. I do read some books which are considered Romantasy, but they have to be written in such a way that they would still be good books without it. And not too much eye gazing & yearning, it gets old fast.

I felt the same way about Water Moon - seem to have way less interest in cute & light stories lately.

Yep, best thing about having an EV! Mine doesn't sparkle like that when I plug it in though, clearly I need an upgrade. ✨️

Actually no - I decided it wasn't for me & gave up on it. I see you had a false start too, so maybe I should try again one day?

Thanks for that - decided to change for now. May come back to it one day but I'm sure it will colour my reading experience now.

Revised October TBR challenge. Difficult finding books on TBR to suit, but for a Spooky tale, I have The Buffalo Hunter Hunter and for a countryside setting, it's We are all Ghosts in the Forest. (bonus - ghosts fits spooky as well?). Particularly looking forward to the second 📚🐉🪐💙

Have ended up with a dilemma here - thanks for pointing it out, had slipped my mind. Which is awful, but as others have said, it's horribly common. I definitely won't be buying from them or posting about them again, but I do have books I already own (in one case, author is dead). Read or discard??

Hello Womble, hope your health improves quickly. I'm reading Beyond Sundered Seas, 3rd in the Empire of Ruin saga by David Green.

OK I did wonder, given what I've heard about it otherwise, but I'm going to go with it for this challenge!

Looking forward to your opinion on that one. I read it earlier in the year.

Will be interested to see how my reading has changed this year, used to be fantasy by a long way, suspect SF is picking up quickly.

Excellent project! Loved organising mine a couple of years back - starting from putting the kitset together actually. Has enough space to add a few knick knacks which get taken out as I get more books. Fun. There are some books I want to get rid of too, another project...

So difficult to describe without spoilers, but includes a very alien planet with amazing, interesting & horrifying flora & fauna, an oppressive regime, revolution, subversion, incredible science, strong characters.

The first book I've read by Adrian Tchaikovsky, and it was amazing! Will definitely be reading more of his. Loved the gradual shift from the MC arriving as a prisoner on the planet to being part of the investigation to discovering how it all fits together & what happens next. 📚🪐💙

Good evening Womble, I'm currently reading The Art of Destiny by Wesley Chu, second book in the War Arts Saga, going well.

Well this is cool, just discovered someone I know through work (which yeah, I never talk about here) is an author, and he's now sent me a copy of his book! So that's up next on the TBR. 📚💙

Good to hear you made something! I don't have Kindle unlimited, so don't get the free version. Don't buy much from Amazon at all actually but have checked library & they don't have it. Interesting process writing a book, I wrote a teen book once, didn't get published but enjoyed the process.

Had no idea you had written a book! Sounds like just the kind of thing I read actually & it's cheap on Amazon, so you have a sale! Do you actually get any $ for this?
