It’s an honor to be nominated and it will be an honor to be absolutely annihilated by K-Pop Demon Hunters.

I have never seen anything like THE PERFECT NEIGHBOR (Netflix) before. It’s a documentary about a racist woman who shoots her neighboor, all told through police body cam footage. It won best directing (US doc) at Sundance and it’s clear why. I highly recommend it! Trigger: kids in high distress

AI has only been useful to me as an artist when kept on a VERY short leash. After the Pixar layoff, I joined a startup making new animation tools. We just released this video reference to anim blocking converter. I hope this helps speed along your blocking first pass! Try it out at getcartwheel.com

@elsasketch.bsky.social My two daughters picked out these two golden books at a local book store yesterday, separately and totally on their own accord. I was stoked to buy them!

THE STUDIO starring Seth Rogen on AppleTV+ is my new favorite thing and I love that I cringe when I watch it in the same way my software engineer husband cringed when he watched Silicon Valley. Too real.

I’m going to start posting about the absolute gems that I find in our biweekly family library haul. Today’s gem is When Everybody Wore A Hat by William Steig. I adore these illustrations. I can see it animated in a Christopher Hinton style short. No linear story, just captured moments in time.

Putting one of these bumper stickers on your Tesla will do far more to mitigate people flipping you off then having a ridiculous “cybertruck hate is ableist” take.

Here's more Monsters University promo work that I did. I animated a lot of little scenes of Sully unnecessarily bullying Mike that were used for random things like Disney channel bumpers.

So unfortunately I am missing most all of my work from my third movie, Brave. I’ll source it later. I am skipping ahead to my next project, Monsters U promo. I animated a bunch of Mike and Sully shenanigans, starting with this 3D marketing spot.

Continuing to post my super early work. This is every shot I animated on Cars 2. In my personal opinion it is the dumbest film I've ever touched. 🥴 I animated a lot of random secondary chars, crowds, inserts... rookie stuff. I only worked on it for a few months but learned a lot and had fun!

Cat Hicks @cathicks.bsky.social · 06/01/2025

Ah yes. Just how Villeneuve intended his film to be viewed.

Another gem from my collection of random stuff I animated for Toy Story promo in the very beginning of my career. Best to watch this with no further context.

My little girl’s ability to effortlessly transition between watching high quality animation (Moana) and very low quality (Mickey Mouse Funhouse) is both inspiring and alarming. Can they tell the difference? Do they care? Who do we polish animation for, (besides ourselves)?

Yes Interstellar was nuts at 70mm IMAX but have you also tried it while tipsy on a plane? Truly how Nolan intended it to be viewed.

Merry Christmas BlueSky! Here's a little in-progress take of a Toy Story Christmas promo I animated twenty million years ago. (I cannot find the final anim recording or final render for this.)

Here's another promo spot I did during my first year as an animator. Teddy Newton was the narrator for this and other promo spots produced for the Toy Story 3D re-releases. He is a treasure and I was so sad when he left Pixar.

Remember my tweet about how Disney used animation I made over 15 years ago for the TS5 announcement at D23 and ScreenRant made an article about it? (buff.ly/49Es1FY) I found the old take! 😂 Included a Potato Head wipe, too. (These are typically called wipes, like “screen wipe”.)

More Toy Story 3D promo work I did as a baby animator in 2009. Mark Walsh was my supe and mentor during my first year at Pixar and I still feel so fortunate about that even today.

Going to post some ancient animation I did when I was a 22yo baby at Pixar. My first project was TS promo for TS3 and the TS1 & 2 3D re-release. Can't remember what fix note refers to but I do remember the tangled springs being a pain and I needed to use multiple Slinks (hidden below the floor).

The radio silence during Thanksgiving was because I was hosting several members of my family in San Francisco. Always super grateful to be able to spend quality time with them, including my dad who suffers from memory impairment. Here we are in Muir Woods reflecting on the fleeting nature of time 🌲
