Yeah, publications are good or whatever but have you ever seen a photograph of a dog enjoying your exhibition? Priceless.
Cloth exhibition panels hang in pairs from beams in Cromford Mills. A man and a greyhound are walking between them.

Last night, an exhibition I've been working on was launched at Cromford Mills in Derbyshire to mark 250 years since building of 2nd mill (blue print for cotton factories worldwide) and early industrial housing. It's open all weekend, with lots of activities. Critique my graphic design efforts!
Exhibition panels printed on cotton fabric hanging in pairs down a mill building from wooden ceiling beams. On the front panels the date 1776 and 'Why did cotton come to Cromford' are legible.

A small temporary exhibition at Cromford Mills to mark 250 years since the building of Arkwright's second mill (became a blueprint across world for other) and early industrial housing. Pic below.

I have had the most Derbyshire morning it's possible to have this morning. Has involved a lot of dogs, talking to everyone, and overfamilar train guards.

My childhood best friend sent me a photo today of the two of us looking more serious about a cake (I think?) than even I thought I was capable of.
Two young children (about 4 or 5) look down at a cake on a table. The cake looks like it might be some kind of sleeping princess shape. We are dressed in 1980s children's party clothes, ribbons and clips in our, both bobs. We are adorable.

I told you!
Blackpop cushion in the fabric 'Henry'. A mix of golds, oranges and greens in an abstract pattern. The blue velvet couch it is sitting on looks a bit sad.

Just saw a photo (itself old) of my floppy discs for my undergraduate modules. I currently feel about a million years old.
6 'Office Word' floppy discs lined up with labels including 'European Economic History', 'Government II notes and essays', 'Introduction to Political Thought' and 'Basic Questions about Theistic Belief'. I am so old.

Palaeography help please! This is from 1852 census in the occupation column. Next to sempstress we have this. My brain is saying 'Husband poor House' BUT that would be plausible enough for me to mistrust that I am making it say that. And would they say that in that column?

Just in case you think it's all talk. I think the Daily Worker sign will be Exhibit A.

I have also bought some fabric samples from them, with the wild idea I will make something from them rather than just gaze lovingly at them occasionally and hope that I were rich.

Back from five days in Germany and genuinely thinking I'm suffering from carb withdrawal.
Plate with massive turkey schnitzel in bread crumbs with mushrooms, and cream sauce and what can only be described as a mountain of chips and a tiny salad.

Conservatory cat catching rays before I unjustly turf her into a cooker house.

My husband just saw this in TK Maxx. I am utterly speechless. Stop this world, I want to get off.
Some kind of garden ornament which seems to depict Frida Kahlo. She looks like a Disney Princess except with a unibrow. It is genuinely vile. Poor Frida.

I have never been in the interior of Pugin's St Mary's Catholic Church until now. It is astonishing; the smell of candles and incense massively comforting. Four candles lit for the ill and the lost. #tinyjoys

Hope you all have a happy Christmas, one and all. I'm signing off for a few days to see family and do a bit of this.
Black cat is lying on a red William Morris blanket on a lap. The room is painted red and the background are some pine bookshelves and a grey chaise longue. The scene is far more bougie than it has any right to be.

Also enhanced by rereading the copy I read when I was about 14 and clearly stolen from my dad's bookcase. It was 4/6.
Penguin book cover for George Orwell's Keep the Aspidistra Flying, possibly from early 1970s, showing a white middle-aged man in a brown suit in the foreground and a woman holding an aspidistra plant behind him.

Just given notice on my rental of ten years. It's a lot at a time of officially 'a lot'. Very glad to be moving into our own place and will be happy not to have to deal with many things, but I will miss a lot, especially the yard.

My last print in my introduction to printing course: chicks in screen print. Note to academics going through all the things. Do something that's not university related once in a while.

My husband doesn't think I should throw this away. My take is that this place was definitely not my happy place, that I disliked more people on this photo than I liked and have much better photos than this of the ones I am still in touch with. Thoughts? Will I regret it?!
