Could just simply be that it has a very dark shoot, like an episode of Star Trek Picard or something.

With Kleya as her assistant. Dealing with all the new members of the Alliance and trying to balance their needs while being hunted by Darth Vader is really tough!

Generally every comic with Bruce Wayne in it is about a rich guy donating to charity, unless he's in space or got transported to the Mezosoic or something.

Nah, by 2046 we'll be on Warhammer: Revenge of Settra and Warband Magazine will be selling ROS Warbands starting with Stormcast Inheritors versus Orruk Mummies.

In the same vein, I think folks in the MCU are going to wish Frank hadn't missed his shot.

Who said anything about the NX-Class? (Even though I maintain a preference for the NX-refit, which is still an Enterprise design even *if* it didn't make it's onscreen debut until PIC S3x6).

Cathexis Zero @cathexiszero.bsky.social · 26/09/2026

Enterprise's lows never reach the depths of TNG, even if the highs never hit the high points of TNG, DS9, and Voyager. The series does show the weakest-designed Enterprise of the line, though.

While the DC punditry/media establishment may hate her, I think those of us in and around the Beltway would vote for her in both the primary and general in numbers that would make Bashar al-Assad blush in embarrasment.

I mean, they wound up colonizing a planet and were sufficiently successful enough that the Hysperian Royal Navy is apparently permitted to have starships on-par with modern Starfleet technology. Even if they drive everyone berserk by using magical names.

I think we had that discussion 20+ years ago and the consensus was "no, there is not". See, e.g., Muhammad v. Virginia, 269 Va. 451 (2005).

More to the point....it's snipers posed over a traffic circle linking South Arlington/Alexandria, the District, North Arlington, and Montgomery County Maryland. Is the "national security threat" supposed to be slowdowns on the GW Parkway or something?

I believe there have been surveys where he already has.

I'm....morbidly curious how they plan to reconcile the "national security enforced by drones and snipers" need with the "traffic circle linking Arlington/Alexandria to DC and Montgomery County" need, because those two aren't really compatible.

That's what I did, as the Armageddon box didn't have the ball and socket flight stand (which, to be clear, is awful but significantly sturdier). I have a brass rod embedded into a crushed wall formation from a Kill Team terrain set. I sent you a picture of it via Discord.

I admit that a legal AI may be better in terms of remembering when I last wrote a brief on a subject. A legal AI will not be better at talking to our client and getting the information and trust that we need from them than the paralegal they've known for three years.

The best two episodes of this season of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds are effectively bottle episodes.

020

Cathexis Zero @cathexiszero.bsky.social · 11/09/2026

The best episodes of the season are when they do stock Star Trek plots with their immensely talented cast.

via litigation if they had to. The main difference is that people could and would say no to Roddenberry, and his vision was fundamentally anti-racist and good-hearted.

, and got into bitter and idiotic feuds with people they actually need on their side (McCain, Cornyn, Kemp versus, uh, Nimoy), and in their declining years were manipulated by trusted caretakers (Stephen Miller/Natalie Harp vs. Leonard Maizlish) and pushing their insane take on the franchise

100

Cathexis Zero @cathexiszero.bsky.social · 09/09/2026

I'm honestly starting to see the parallels between Roddenberry and Trump more and more. Both were/are incredibly greedy (Trump's giant merch store and wearing of the Trump merch/Trump's giant fundraising operations versus Lincoln Enterprises and stuff like the IDIC Pendant), misogynistic,

Cathexis Zero @cathexiszero.bsky.social · 09/09/2026

I think other episodes do certain things better - Inner Light gives us a better Patrick Stewart performance, while Best of Both Worlds is the best ensemble/Riker episode of the bunch. But when it comes to "Which is the best Star Trek: The Next Generation" episode at being Star Trek? Darmok.

030

Cathexis Zero @cathexiszero.bsky.social · 09/09/2026

Yeah, I think that's right. There's some other potential episodes that come close (Corbomite Maneuver, Devil in the Dark), but I think this may be the most Star Trek of Trek episodes. It's certainly the best TNG episode.

120

Cathexis Zero @cathexiszero.bsky.social · 09/09/2026

It's not like there's a Star Trek series set 800 years or so after the 2371 portions of that episode.

I'm grouchy that the star of that episode has not appeared in a Star Trek since.

110

Cathexis Zero @cathexiszero.bsky.social · 04/09/2026

Was it a generic Star Trek plot? Yes (both TNG and DS9 did it, in "Disaster" and "Starship Down"). But it's also when we get the best moments of them being Starfleet officers.
