UKSG Glasgow 2026 – Day 3
Myself, Katherine Stephan and Katrine Sundsbø networking On the final day of UKSG I decided not to run after the late night the night before and the need to pack my bag ready to check out. Was starting to flag by this point but steeled myself for the last few sessions and the final sweep around the marketplace for goodies.

UKSG Glasgow 2026 – Day 0 and Day 1
I did attend UKSG in 2024 (Glasgow) and 2025 (Brighton) but clearly did not get around to posting about them as I last posted here in 2023. In my defence in 2024 I did present 5 times (2 breakouts twice and 1 plenary) so I was a bit tired when I returned and wasn't able to attend as many sessions as I would have liked.

Rick - downloading files from these sites you put the network at risk as you don't know what you are downloading - so we should be discouraging students from using them #UKSG2026

Rick - there is too much neutrality around sites like SciHub - poses a risk to campus security - it exposing the campus to cyber attacks if you share access to your credentials, its not just the licenced content but everything else you can access on the network #UKSG2026

Rick Anderson up next - worried our desire to open up content is not just about opening up access but provides an "in" for bad actors into our systems. Honoring our licences is impt for protecting our campuses #UKSG2026

Sam - thinking about how they support people who raise a complaint and also the team dealing with the issue (affects everyone) - need to find the right person for them to talk to. Then also do we follow up with them 3 months, 6 months later and who does that? #UKSG2026
