Tonight I’m starting the rescue this gummy, chewed up, 2008 bottle of discontinued Royal Rajah Ruby by OPI. Needed acetone to get the cap off, have generously dosed it with thinner and now leaving it to soak in overnight. Have a spare brush cap ready to go for tomorrow 💅

Just a reminder that when Winston Peters was asked about the Gender Definitions bill, he said that suspected trans women would be "subjected to a biological test". If you don't find that chilling, regardless of your political affiliations, then there's something very wrong with you.

Peters said the government had "no place in the nation's bedrooms" but the proposed law was simply "putting the facts out there that are biologically correct".

Asked how it would be enforced, Peters said transgender women would not be challenged until they walked into a single-sex space, or if they wanted to participate in a sporting situation like rugby or boxing.

"If you're going to make a claim that you have something you're not, yes, you will be subjected to a biological test. And why not?" he said.

Peters said he intended this bill to replace a self-identification law which allows New Zealand citizens to change their registered sex on their birth certificate.

I got a response from the Women's Rights Party. They are even more of a joke party than anyone ever imagined. Unable to engage with the most mild criticism, havers of tissue-thin skin. There wasn't even the expected hand-wavey, responsibility eschewing theatrics you'd get from ACT and Nats.

The Women’s Rights Party published a blog today, which included the statement pictured below. Women speaking about “sex-based rights” are not at risk of breaching the Harmful Digital Communications Act. That is a blatant falsehood and a clear misrepresentation of my complaint against Landy.

“Women speaking about sex-based rights are at risk of breaching the Act. Rex Landy, a member of Mana Wāhine Kōrero and the Women’s Rights Party, upset a man who identifies as female, called Caitlin Spice, who complained about Rex’s social media posts. She was arrested, her home raided and her electronic devices confiscated. Rex has appeared in Court at least six times so far, and the case is not over yet. She is due to appear in Court on two more charges on 3rd and 17th December relating to failing to take down two posts on X, despite consistently providing good explanations as to why she didn’t.”
