My kids were 11 and 9 before we finally succumbed. Don't regret it for a second. Not sure how but the little terrier-ist seems to massively help with their emotional regulation

Enjoy your break! Im just back from a 2 week road trip in Canada. First time ive ever taken 2 weeks together as leave and really felt the benefit. Think we underestimate sometimes how much the old battery needs a recharge.
