I don't understand his opposition to cycling. It must be ideological. Cycling makes healthier people. Healthier people reduces healthcare costs. Cycling reduces air pollution. Reduced air pollution means healthier people and reduced healthcare costs. I ride my bike for my health. I don't hate cars.

Let's do it. There is nothing in North America that remotes interests me. I'm driving something because, well, this is North America, but I'd like something shaped like a statiin wagin or a hatchback.

Try calling Agrifood Canada. Government department with fines as a tool and a tool I've heard it's been using. If the store manager won't listen we can amp it up.

At the time, it was political suicide to do it. The tide may be turning and hopefully for all western democracies because this isn't a US-only issue

Better still, pay the parents properly so they can afford to feed the children at home.

Recently on my mind is car design and its impact on range. This Toyota looks like it just might be sleek enough to use aerodynamics to help reach that 750 mile.

This is a new one for me. It's a neat alternative to boiled dinner and more amenable to a lone diner. I will try this.

I've been thinking a lot about home affordability across western societies. I don't think corporate ownership is the whole answer. Yes, houses have become bigger, unnecessarily in my opinion, and construction costs have also risen but I think the biggest reason is stagnation of worker wages.

Buddy, I made no mention of making decisions for them. I was simply pointing out physics. I don't know about you but I stay in the right hand lane unless I need to pass. It's safer over there. I also try to avoid the middle lane where they exist. They're the least safe.

With gas prices as high as they are, more folks should be driving the limit or even a bit less. There are serious savings to be had.

This just makes me angry. Clearly no concept of tree physiology. Yes course trees stop growing before the end of the season. That's when they start lignifying!

I'm truly curious about what you wanted to say with the photo, what motivated you to frame it as you did. I'm also truly curious about whether the response surprised you. I want to know what you saw that I maybe didn't see.

I agree. Oops, that is not how I was taught to critique a photo. Let me try again...I like how you broke the 'rule' of thirds to draw interest to the subject. What story or message did you want to convey with the image? For me, drawing such attention to an anonymous woman's figure feels creepy.

I do not for the life of me understand the issue with race in casting. It's ACTING for goodness sake. Anyone should be able to play anyone. LET HER PLAY THE ROLE.

Two things: 1) plastic from lignocellulisics has been around for a long time (it was the sunject of my PhD dissertation 20 years ago and I was hardly the first), and 2) just because it's bio-based doesn't mean it's green. Does it decompose? Unlikely.

Cat.kins @cat-kins.bsky.social · 11/05/2026
Lignocellulosic plastics have been available for at least 2 decades. The issue with all of them is cost. Until oil-based plastics are more expensive, oil-based it will be.

Three issues with this: 1) It is likely that forests would be razed to clear land to plant it as, according to a FAO study from around 2007, happened with bamboo; 2) It is plastic and not biodegradable. An organic origin doesn't make it biodegradable; 3) If it's not cost effective, few will buy it.

Have you ever read Glen Frankfurter's book Baneful Domination? It's Glen's take on Canadian history. I think you'd find it interesting. In a nut shell, he concluded that England sacrificed Canada for better relations with the US, if I remember well.

For you, is writing the point? I'm starting a first novel after years of writing technical reports. Just the process is fun for me and I'm not so concerned what happens after.

I would have to open my eyes wide and say, wow, I didn't know our Prime Minister is that powerful. How did he make the prices rise in Australia, too? My friend lives there and told me fuel is $2.70 a litre.

How hard was it to switch? I use the computer but don't look under the hood, so to speak. But I am livid that Microsoft stole my files from my computer when it updated itself to Windows 11.

I would argue this turn started during Harper's time as PM. I would get so frustrated by the questions CBC failed to ask. I was a long time CBC radio listener. I can't now. Reporting is soft on the right-wing, as you point out, and the rest of the programming is increasingly vapid.
