Jim @castillofotos.com · 22/07/2026The grandkids are back home in California. It was so good having them here for a few weeks. Time always seems to fly by, but we made some great memories while they were here. The house already feels a little too quiet, and I definitely miss having them around. 000
Jim @castillofotos.com · 16/04/2026Civil service meeting today was pretty short. We approved both the probationary police officer suitability list and the lateral entry list. Out of 446 total recruits, 23 made the probationary list and 2 made the lateral entry list. 010
Jim @castillofotos.com · 28/03/2026I downloaded a cool CarPlay app called Pelican. It’s not really a replacement for Apple Maps, but more of an add-on. It pulls in Apple Maps data and layers on extra features like a 3D-style driving view and customizable widgets. 110
Jim @castillofotos.com · 18/02/2026I braved the dusty haboob today and still made it to the polls. Early voting for the Texas primaries is now open and runs through February 27. Election Day is March 3. Texas friends, get out and vote. 031

Jim @castillofotos.com · 23/07/2025This is fucked up. Washington has paused its new law requiring clergy to report child abuse, even if they hear it during confession. Jim @castillofotos.com · 13/06/2025I downloaded the iOS 26 beta a few days ago. Haven’t run into any major bugs so far. I’m really liking some of the new layouts, especially CarPlay. The “liquid glass” look is interesting, but it might take a little time to get used to. 120
Jim @castillofotos.com · 04/06/2025My granddaughter Lily’s birthday is coming up and apparently Labubu is the big thing right now. I don’t get the hype, but hey, it’s still cheaper than the Hermès handbags I see grown adults clipping them onto like some kind of sacred charm. So, Labubu it is! 120
Jim @castillofotos.com · 21/05/2025Today's Civil Service Commissioners meeting ran long. Tabled items will be addressed next week. 000
