I've been investigating a weird unit conversion when exporting a SVG from an SWF, and one of my attempts to fix it accidentally went in the wrong direction.

A vector graphic image where the line thickness is 400x times what it should be, making every character look very round and featureless.

Redid the calculations by actually reading the metric values from the font files, and also doing cap-height while I'm at it. Results are very similar, with the updated weighted mean for x-height being 0.524, and cap-height being 0.711.

Histogram of total downloads per x-height and cap-height. Both look very normally distributed, with x-height having its center slight above 0.5 and cap-height having its a bit below 0.75.

girlfriend made a remark about how many cards TLA already previewed, so i accidentally nerd-sniped myself. my excitement to work on this has worn off, the graph is still very crowded, but i'm happy that it does show TLA as an outlier! #mtg

With font-size-adjust now being in Baseline, I nerd-sniped myself into finding a "good" generic value for it's ex-height. So after scraping fonts.google.com/analytics and doing some basic data-analysis, I arrived at a weighted (by total downloads) mean of 0.525! #css

decided to remove the flaps from the breast pockets on my shirts. never use them, they're impossible to get nice and flat, and the thick fabric was irritating when pressed against me. modding stuff you own to better suit your needs feels nice. take care of yourself. 🤍
