12 October 1892 | Edith Stein was born in Wrocław. She was a German Jewish philosopher who converted to Catholicism & became a theologian & a Carmelite nun. She was murdered in #Auschwitz in August 1942. Stein was beatified in 1987 and canonized in October 1998.

Text document about Teresa Benedicta of the Cross (Edith Stein). It details her life, from being a German Jew and doctor of philosophy to becoming a Carmelite nun. She worked on the works of St. John of the Cross and studied the situation of Jewish citizens in the Netherlands during World War II. Edith was eventually arrested and sent to Auschwitz, perishing there in 1942. Pope John Paul II beatified her in 1987 and canonized her in 1998. She became one of the six patron saints of Europe a year later.
