Better than Oz. That’s all that matters right now. The GOP gets how power works, and we Dems don’t. We need to control the Senate to prevent a whole bunch of future horrors. Don’t reject him. Cultivate him.

Terrible. And vastly better than Oz.

Honestly, he was a miracle worker. And we have him to thank for >225 superb federal judges, including Justice KBJ. And a whole raft of key federal legislation. No one else could have a) held that seat and b) voted so consistently with the Dems. Forget the times he made us all crazy. Rounding errors.

Manchin didn’t suck; Manchin was awesome. All politicians cast disappointing votes and oppose some great policies. No one bats a thousand. To hold the WV seat and vote as liberally as he did was almost unbelievable. It all required a lot of annoying theater, I’ll grant you that.

He’s very difficult. And yet even so he’s so much better than the generic Republican. Suck it up and make it work, Dems.

You go down to the Trumpiest state in the nation, deep-red socially conservative WV, and hold a Senate seat, and vote with the Dems >90% of the time, and make it look easy. Show us how it’s done.

Manchin brought us Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson. And well over 225 other superb federal judges. Plus the big Biden legislative packages. I love Joe Manchin.

Manchin was the single most valuable Dem Senator of the Biden era. No one else could have held that seat. And he voted the right way nearly every time. He thus made almost 250 excellent federal judges, including the superb KTJ, possible. All of us to his left owe him an immense debt of gratitude.

The Platonic ideal cab—large doors, open interior, easy seating for 3, plus pull-down jump seats for 2-3 more, lots of luggage room—is already all over London. Why a tiny, awkward, low-slung vehicle for just 2? They needed a “cab,” Elmo had just killed the Model 2, and it was what they had on hand.

cassius-clay.bsky.social @cassius-clay.bsky.social · 06/09/2026
This is a desperate repurposing of the abandoned Model 2 to keep the pump going. A two person cab is idiotic. And only the young and able-bodied can get in and out of that low-slung roadster. They need to display a new vehicle and they’re just using what they had around the shop.

It’s the fusion of the belief that women are nothing if not mothers with a complete misunderstanding of what the insanity defense means - ie, that people “get off” and walk free. Misogyny plus death penalty absolutism.

Colonizing Mars is like colonizing the center of the Earth. Not only can it not be done, but if it could be, you’d never want to be there. Why choose to be on, or underground within, a hideous, frozen, irradiated space rock that’s 140M miles away? It makes the penalty colony era look paradisal.

But purists really don’t win. Politics centers on compromise. If the Democratic party has a big enough delegation in Congress not to need GOP votes to pass legislation, that just means it’s big enough to have internal splits that must be bridged. The need to cut deals never vanishes. It just shifts.

Dems need to back the moat electable Dems until MAGA is out of power and has been extirpated, root and branch. Losing nobly on purpose brought us the end of Roe, ICE terrorism, widespread infant deaths in Africa, and a thousand other horrors.

Homophobic men are closeted. Full stop. And there are a lot more closeted men than admit it on orientation surveys. Self-hatred is the most powerful form of hate and it underlies vicious conduct towards others. “I ran into my high school bully at the local gay bar” is an ancient trope by this point.

Can we clone you? Getting to 51% in the seven or so swing states is really, really hard. And yet it changes the entire world for the better. The scorn for effective politics that leftists manifest is just insane.

Tesla’s preposterous valuatujn (more than all other car companies put together) has allowed Musk to become the biggest far-RW political donor of all time. Tesla’s collapse will remove him from the political stage. Can’t happen too soon.

The Musk “Mars” is a trope of the sci-fi we all grew up on. That common cultural legacy is what enables yet another stock pump. The real Mars is hideous, unvarying, dead, frozen, toxic, irradiated, and regularly meteorite-bombed—and an inconceivable 140M miles away. Humans won’t ever live there.

The core of the SCT’s power isn’t Article III of the Constitution. It’s the mystery and remove and prestige in which they cloak themselves. They’re nine ordinary lawyers transformed into esoteric high priests. Reform will need to center on normalizing the Court and its operations.

Dems’ willingness to cut seemingly problematic candidates loose can be weaponized. It is pretty clear in hindsight that Sen. Al Franken was the victim of a RW opp, per an in-depth New Yorker investigation. It can be hard to get these situations right.

Nope. Her superannuated crimbo opponent babbled incoherently about such compelling topics as people eating cats and dogs. It should not have taken electoral genius to have won against that decomposing wreck. Kamala was weighed way down by Biden’s collapse and nonetheless came very close to winning.

There is some compelling “no Hitler, no Holocaust” scholarship. A charismatic leader with broad powers can alter a society. Trump won via a fluke, and then made everything vastly worse than it otherwise would have been.
