Today’s #vss365 for #siren is my poem, “Stay or Go,” from my most recent #poetry book, Swimming in Gilead, from @yellowarrowpub.bsky.social More info: www.cassiepremosteele.com/swimming-in-...

Stay or Go

The thing is that when faced with this question, it's not a question.
When confronted with this choice, it's not a choice. We imagine it as such only when we are far removed from it. But when it happens to you, you know. You must go. That's always the decision you make. As much fear and terror as you have, the heartbreak and uncertainty, the regrets and wishing, and all the tears. You put one foot in front of another and go. Because the body can only take so much. Violence and yelling and hunger and shooting and air sirens and bombs and guns in the streets. After a time, the body sends a signal to the mind: Danger. Warning. Cannot cope. And so you go.
You make the call. You get in line. You wait. You go. And you keep going. Just as every other immigrant, refugee, battered spouse, and abused child has done at one time or another. You are not alone.
Meet us here on the road. We have more than enough food and fresh water that we can share with you. Together, we will welcome you to your new home.

The lure of land unrolls with silt and sand like the fleece of sheep that underneath our animal hands can create a new story where the wounds of our histories are heard and burn long enough to warm and carry us together into our next chapters softly, carefully. #vss365 #lure @altnps.bsky.social

You know what can mitigate wildfires and droughts and floods? Beavers. They purify even the toxins we put into the watersheds and create habitat that all beings rely upon. Including us, human beings. We are all beings. The code of the water way is greater than greed. #vss365 #purify #BeaverCON2026

I want new investment and good-paying jobs right here in South Carolina — but not at your expense. Darline Graham says data centers are a must. I say South Carolinians should come first. That’s why I launched DataCenterDarline.com today. See for yourself and follow the money.

My wife missed the kitties so much while in India for work that she’s been working in the garage to be near them. The mother cat brought her a lizard. Then a bird. She does work hard. Pixel probably intuited her hunger. Here are the kitties after sharing the bird with their mom. #vss365 #hunger
