These snowboarding boots are destined for Fort McMurray, AB, which is home to 3000 wood bison. I remember driving north of the city when I was a kid with my grandparents to go look at them, it was pretty amazing to see so many grazing together.

AI art has often been on my mind in the last year. For my painting "Degrade I" for WOWxWOW's "Follow the Universe" group show, I wanted to incorporate more physicality in my paintings, to focus on the tangibleness of traditional painting, versus the immateriality of AI art.

I usually paint the eyes first. It feels like such an integral part of a painting, if I can't get the eyes right, might as well burn the whole thing down, ya know? North America's tallest bird, the whooping crane is at risk/endangered in Alberta.

For a few years I did local markets, but then I was scammed by a fake market and haven't really delved into it again. The market vendor FB groups are abundant with scammers. Alberta artists, do you have a favourite market that is a good fit for art and art adjacent items, like pins and stickers?

I have availability for customs, with completion dates in April and beyond. You can send me a message or email: cassandra@cassolstudio.com. I never mind answering questions or providing quotes! And because it matters more these days, a reminder that I am based in Canada!

Sometimes the first pass on a painting ain't so bad. It's been an age since I painted a human skull, I think it was a figure drawing class in university that I last drew a skeleton. Getting back to some basic forms and interesting lighting for next month's release on @everydayoriginal.bsky.social

#artadventcalendar day 13! "Trident's Lure" is the largest painting I did this year, and is based on a reoccurring dream I used to have.

A painting of a mermaid on a rock in a grotto, reaching for a trident swirling around a whirlpool.

I tend to want to do things by the book. As an artist and a small business owner, insurance is such a big expense and the products available don't seem to be a good fit. I know many artists probably forgo insurance and take the risk, but for those that do have insurance, anyone wanna chat about it?

I see #ArtAdventCalendar is thriving... Remember, the owls are always watching (and they are slightly judgy)

Stylized drawing of three barn owls crowded together so that the one on left and right are partially cut off from the image. They are staring out at viewer with very solemn expressions.

"This way" from earlier this year. I was thinking a lot about death, so painted a psychopomp.

Day 9 of #ArtAdventCalendar: "Raven Magic" - I have to draw a corvid every year. I love corvids.

A circular drawing of a raven with a circular frame. Above it is the crescent moon and behind are clouds, blue sky, light-colored lines radiating from the center, and two circles joined at the top.

The tenacity you need to get an adhd diagnosis as an adult is mind boggling. Trying to help my husband get assessed, if he had to do this on his own he'd never get things in order or advocate for himself enough to get help. The symptoms that need treatment are the roadblocks to receiving diagnosis.

Day 4 of #ArtAdventCalendar, one of my Drawlloween sketches from last year. I LOVE Drawlloween but almost never have the time to complete it. The prompt was "witch." Watercolor and Micron ink pen.

A cartoony watercolor and ink sketch showing a witch at work. The witch is a sphynx cat in a pointed hat stirring a glowing cauldron with a human femur. Her bat-winged cat assistant sprinkles ingredients from a basket into the pot. They are surrounded by bottles, bones, and herbs. There are several pet toads with a toadstool-shaped cushion to sleep on.

It's been a while. I have painted some things since I last posted, though I have been quiet. My dad passed away in March and then my dog passed away in August, and for reasons I am still figuring out, I really withdrew from social media. But the influx to bluesky has spark some interest to return.
