Flathub banned LLM-generated projects, with an exception for “mature, well-maintained projects.” Then they accepted Kopuz, whose website looks like a textbook LLM-generated one-pager. Meanwhile, DAW Project Manager has 766 commits and 8 stars. Very consistent policy enforcement.

I’m very proud to announce Copland OS, the second Nix-based Linux distribution to run on OpenRC instead of systemd. Big thanks to the finix project for the inspiration and reference. First-class citizens: * npins * ZFS with a web interface * native containers #nix

not to forget that when hyprland has stable releases and you upgrade the version after a couple months, you realize vaxxry broke it again on purpose just because he can.

to publicly address all the things that can't be found in the Nix community and the repeated emphasis that DHH is a total idiot. Lately, I had really lost interest in Linux and especially NixOS, but you guys have truly given me some hope again that there are still people with common sense out there.

Twitch probably has the worst interface I've ever seen, and they're trying to take measures to block adblockers and VOD downloads. Thank god there are projects like yt-dlp, which btw don't just work on YouTube. Thank me later.

all good, I like talking about build systems I will say, the "dendritic pattern" stuff... kind of irks me. it's a ton of added complexity for seemingly no benefit over using nixos modules the regular way (which is still not an ideal design, but it's simpler)

If you ask me, it's Org Mode. It covers all my needs, from note-taking to much more complex tasks, but first and foremost, it has the simple yet superior tagging of headlines, something Markdown was never able to provide.

In comparison, nvim felt snappier when I migrated to Emacs, but Emacs has gotten a huge performance boost over the last year.

I have never experienced anything like it. If you enjoy taking notes, Emacs has you covered (not limited to Org mode). The big difference between your ad hoc Nvim setup, which often comes with a multiplexer, TUI file browser, and terminal, is that everything is shoved into Emacs.

cashmere @cashmere.rs · 29/03/2026
Starter distros like Doom Emacs worked for me right out of the box, unlike NVIM distros. Packages and the ecosystem don't break or become deprecated as often. While you can live inside Emacs, you are free to use the GUI and/or TUI versions. Its community is the kindest.
