Still one of my faves.

In the past few days, I've seen at least three Waymo vehicles tooling around Seattle's north end. I think they're mapping rather than autonomous taxis, because they have what seem like a lot of sensors: a big AWACs-style dish on the roof, and an adorable revolving light thingie on the rear.
White sedan car, seen from the rear. It has a camera-sensor on the rear bumper that looks like a little robot, and on the roof is a big flat disk mounted with a camera-sensor.

A perfect autumn day - and of course I'm at work. WFH but still: can't go gadding off to the hiking trails.
View from my porch: golden autumn day spills sunlight through conifer trees, making bright patches on the lawn. Trees in foreground are dark and green, some branches sun-dappled.

Hardcat! 😀😆😂
Emoji graphic of anime-style cat wearing armor helmet, breastplate and arms, and holding a sword. Cute rather than military.

Arachnophobes, look away!! I like spiders, and at least one lives in my house. I worry about her, bc not many bugs get in here, and I don't want her to starve. Today she managed a major coup: captured a moth 3x her size, bundled it up, and is stuffing herself on it. You go, girl!
POV: Window, looking out at a parking lot and condo building on the other side of the parking lot under a cloudy sky. Closeup: A spider lives in the window: she has caught a moth and wrapped it up into an elongated bundle 3x her size. The moth is a long tapered dark object; the spider is crouched on it, some of her legs visible.

Couldn't find a .gif for this:
Still photo from 1974 film "Murder on the Orient Express." Scene shows all the suspects gathered in the lounging car for Poirot's final summation of the case.

One of the staples of my posts here have been stories and photos of my elderly cat Oscar: my roomie and constant companion since he was born nearly 17 years ago. Oscar had a major stroke Monday evening and died that night in the hospital. I mourn and miss him.
Photo portrait of Oscar: a fluffy Siamese cat, sitting primly, gazing slightly to his right.

Got these cocktail glasses decades ago, haven't used them in years but love them too much to get rid of. So I found a nifty new use for them: holding a serving of Asian Cracker Snack mix. Makes snacking more fun and festive :)
Cocktail glass sitting on a white surface. The glass is shaped like a shallow snifter, and is Southwest themed: the rim and stem are green, and glass cacti are growing out of the stem. But there is no margarita or other drink in this glass. Instead, there is a mound of Asian Cracker Snack mix.

Caturday "Dappled Oscar" Pre-Dawn. Oscar is looking out the sliding glass door to the big deck off the living room. His hind end looks like a patchwork of color, bc where I shaved some matts off, the fur grew back in funny: darker when short, lightening as it gets longer.
POV: Standing, looking down at a long-haired Siamese cat named Oscar, who is sitting on a carpet by a sliding-glass door. The door is open enough for him to sit with his head outside. It's morning before sunrise, so outside is dark. Oscar's fur on his back end is a patchwork of brown and white. The end of his fluffy tail is half-up as he surveys his realm.

Oscar on Sunday, lounging on the heat padded blanket on his side of the sofa. Blanket and heat pad have been there for many years, giving kitties a warm spot in the winter and then, when they are elderly, some relief for their arthritic old bones.
Close-up of kitty Oscar on his sofa. He is lounging on a mustard yellow electric blanket, surrounded by brocade sofa pillows. He is in meatloaf pose, tilted slightly to one side, chin tucked to his chest.

Complying with BlueSky TOS! My housemate, freeloading off me for 16+ years, in his very convincing catsuit.
A carpeted room. In the background, a slightly open sliding glass door. In the foreground is Oscar the Cat, a fluffy Siamese, looking directly into the camera showing off his blue eyes. Tail up, ears up, he's a happy boy.

#ProofofCat I present: Oscar
Very close-up view of a cat: medium-fluffy, touseled white fur, Siamese mask face. Facing camera, ears up, eyes open.

Oscar after a night at the poker table.
A long-haired Siamese cat is sleeping (or passed out) on an ottoman, surrounded by single dollar bills, which he may possibly have won playing poker.

I haven't done any fused glass in years - but this is one of my best pieces, a glass mandala. Big piece, about 14" in diameter.

Bluesky now has over 10 million users, and I was #2,042,342! Not exactly an early adopter 😁 but I'm very happy to see so many new faces!

Protect your vote! The GOP is purging eligible voters from the rolls in Red and Swing states. Here's how to make sure. you're not purged:
Republicans are carrying out organized voter-purging campaigns in red states and swing states. They are working to get eligible voters tossed off the rolls, so that when you show up to vote you’re not listed as a registered voter.

There is a step you can take in advance of voting in federal elections to make sure your registration status is active. And it’s easy. You can go online and check your registration status.

Also, the National Motor Voter Act says you can’t be removed from the voter rolls closer than 90 days out from the election. We’re past that point now, so, if you check your status and you’re an active voter, your state can’t change that before the election. Take a screenshot, keep it handy, and if there are any issues, you’ve got proof that you’re an active voter. If there’s any question at the polls, you’ve got documentation.

If you live in a red state or swing state especially, please check your registration status. Do it today, and take a screenshot showing that you

H/T VeniceRiley on X: Tim Walz is the dad and grandpa that Rush and Rupert stole from us. He's the family we lost when their personalities changed seemingly overnight. If the right wing funded rage machine never existed, we would have had millions like him. They've broken so many families.

Tom - I'm doing a sort of social media bombing with this Twitter thread from Aaron Fritchner, an aide to Rep. Don Beyer. I want as many people as possible to know just how the MSM is doing to Joe Biden what they did to Hillary Clinton: Link to original Twitter thread: x.com/Fritschner/s...
Twitter thread from House aide detailing how reporters, under pressure from their bosses, are distorting coverage to minimize how much support Biden has.

How about not joining the stampede to get rid of Biden? How about looking coldly at what reporters - under pressure from their editors - are doing to Biden? And spreading that word, instead of chin-stroking over who should replace him on the ticket.

Aaron Fritschner is a House staffer for Rep. DonBeyer. He's detailed how reporters, under pressure from their bosses, are distorting coverage to make things look worse than they are. Please spread this as far and wide as you can:

Read this and spread it widely:
