It’s not about identity, it’s about policy. A policy that is quickly becoming the litmus test for the voters, is AIPAC. Candidates w/ AIPAC and other lobbies that contribute to our broken politics, is going to appear as charlatans. Populism works bc it addresses the elephant in the room.

I’m also not the type to think there’s a perfect candidate, as I’m extremely opinionated. I wouldn’t like an expansion of the military and that’s not the prime concern for me. Corruption in our politics undermines everything and that’s what voters are responding to most.

I did, and he had a proposal on procurement. I’m a veteran, and I know of how corrupt that side of the MIC is. The corruption degrades the military and “rebuilding” it doesn’t directly mean expansion it means cutting out the fat and getting the value you pay for.

The party faced the glaring, failing politics that couldn’t beat someone like Platner. Voters are desperate enough to vote for Trump and Platner, despite the baggage. Voters are also electing viable DSA candidates. Wanna win elections? Appeal to voters instead of demanding they fall in line.

Many people are systemically traumatized, and the pool is growing rapidly imo. This impacts one’s ability to live a life without maladaptive behaviors. Social injustice facilitates imperfect victims. Many folks that are highly-focused on the mechanisms of harm, are folks that have been harmed.

I understand that perspective. My personal experience skews me to being a bit more charitable; Im a vet, and I know a few “Platners” that I’d trust in a class-struggle. His lived experience is relatable to a lot of people who’ve been lured, trapped, and treated the same.

Vigilance toward his character is warranted, and I like to think Platner knows this and accepts that’s the cross he has to bear. Bernie mobilized a generation around similar messaging. It’s populism. I think it works well bc it acknowledges the elephant in the room. It’s a litmus test for many.

I think the the criticisms of the candidate have offered shelter from criticizing a pariah party. Both parties are disliked by most Americans. Platner is a symptom of people no longer willing to wait for a sqeeky-clean savior. At the end of the day, we vote for those who choose to run.

Thats fortunate. EC does break the mold in many ways due to how closely packed communities and supply-chains are. Half of my district is a food-desert, so getting regular produce can be extremely limited for entire communities. In my area, it’s 45 miles to get guanciale.
