People: what's Edinburgh like to live in. Me:
Social media post from The Scotsman newspaper with the caption "Edinburgh's most stylish resident? Merry Samantha, the Afghan Hound taking the fashion world by storm." The picture is of a white Afghan Hound's head poking out of a post neck with a red high collared coat over the top.

Some alarming news from a Fife MP on Facebook; in addition to planned rail works in the Fife circle line, the Firth of Forth has ingressed and surrounded Edinburgh airport. (I'll pass no comment on the disappearance of Dundee).
An AI generated map of closures on the Fife circle line which includes the route of the Edinburgh Tram and Dundee labelled as Perth.

Reply 1: No idea why they haven't tried hybrid power, with an atkinson-cycle aviation engine charging the system... sky-prius...

Reply 2: (Read the article - a hybrid is in the works.)

Reply 1: what are you, 70? If you want people to "click thru", give them a reason to do so. No-one has time to read every link people throw at them.

Reply 2: I thought you might be interested that the article addresses your concern. Apologies if I was mistaken.

I think they're white lipped snails. But maybe wiser folk could say differently. One of the things I love about them is that no two are alike! (They're very popular with thrushes so there's lots of empty shells about my local park).

Wikipedia article legacy section:

Several places and institutions were named after her, including the city of Andalyp, as was the month of April in the Turkmen calendar, renamed in 2002 after the Turkmen government passed a law renaming all months and most days of week, a decision which was rescinded by his successor, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow, in April 2008.[2] Her son also abolished the Turkmen word for bread, to be replaced with Gurbansoltan.

Maths is cool, kids!
To call the humble riffle shuffle “complicated” sells it absurdly short. The number of possible arrangements for an ordinary deck of cards is 52 factorial — that is, 52 × 51 × 50 × … × 3 × 2 × 1, or (roughly speaking) an 8 followed by 67 zeros, close to the estimated number of atoms in our galaxy. Another way to put the figure into context: Every time you shuffle a deck of cards, you produce a configuration that has almost certainly never existed before, and never will again.

I've just finished reading Beasts of the Sea by Ida Turpeinen it's a beautiful and heartbreaking book about the Steller's Sea Cow from its discovery/extinction to the display of one of the few skeletons in a Helsinki Museum. It's told through the eyes of various men and women through the centuries.
