I think ICE has about 18,000 agents: 12,000 have been hired this year...and there literally is a recruitment campaign that targets white nationalists....and what's crazy is that it's true and not some bluesky liberal hyperbole

At this moment it still goes on, but if the US invades/takes Greenland….than a different story. Its also a « North American World Cup » so in theory they could just have more matches in Canada/Mexico

They are spending about 80 million Euros on this film. I am looking forward to what I hope to be some top-notch French propaganda. www.youtube.com/watch?v=T4Zy...

I also am in an online master program where we read a book a week and comment (with page references), easy to tell who is cheating as Chat GPT will cite the wrong page and or make up the source. But still a pain to police I imagine

Carter Semple @cartersemple.bsky.social · 26/11/2025

I think some primary source analysis activities can be cool as well— give em extracts to compare/analyse etc —like a university level version of the lessons you can find on www.inquirygroup.org (use to be Stanford history)

A drawer only reaches true junk status if it gets jammed shut once in awhile

Carter Semple @cartersemple.bsky.social · 15/08/2025

Ive been there! That hills/mountain Imperia provence of Italy is filled with so many wonderful small remote villages…

Carter Semple @cartersemple.bsky.social · 13/08/2025

I was unfortunately born into it

Carter Semple @cartersemple.bsky.social · 10/08/2025

The Euro Fiba tourney is solid. Though we have to wait 2 weeks for that.

Carter Semple @cartersemple.bsky.social · 06/08/2025

To be fair, I don’t recall much of the town or college as its all a haze—but ill aways remember the gigantic cardboard maze they constructed - u would crawl through a labyrinth of tunnels etc and end up on a dance floor. It got pretty nasty in the tunnels…but still pretty cool nonetheless

Carter Semple @cartersemple.bsky.social · 06/08/2025

To regain combat capabilities, their air-force should start a fundraising drive selling t-shirts with that symbol

Carter Semple @cartersemple.bsky.social · 06/08/2025

Terre Haute per chance? (Though I suppose thats more a city) I went to a wild “maze” party thrown on by a frat at the Engineering University there

Carter Semple @cartersemple.bsky.social · 06/08/2025

Apparently some serious mixed Italian opinions on this….

Carter Semple @cartersemple.bsky.social · 06/08/2025

Yes lets use a great national shame, of the time when we threw American citizens into concentration camps, as the counter argument….

Carter Semple @cartersemple.bsky.social · 06/08/2025

And those “Japanese” he was referring too, where actually Americans ….so he is more or less advocating stripping away due process for all, citizen or not.

Like I don’t think they are trying to compete with Starlink for yacht owners using their system…etc. …but perhaps they should

000

Carter Semple @cartersemple.bsky.social · 29/07/2025

You make a point, however I don’t believe they are trying to match starlink size constellation but rather a smaller one centered around security/sovereignty. And I believe Ariane is shooting for 10 a year in 27? On the other hand, I agree it should Falcon type system/volume should be the goal.

It's this very lakefront property that is the reason why Newbury Street is so expensive.

It also doesn’t help that like half of America doesn’t believe climate change is real…I could be wrong but even the most conservative Euro politicians generaly believes in global warming —ya clothes line drying can get tricky, we have a tower set up in our guest room like full time (i live in 🇫🇷)

Carter Semple @cartersemple.bsky.social · 27/07/2025

Fair, though I would say on average Americans are less conscious about their footprint compared to others, we average like 15 tons per person compared to the 5 tons of a French person, a lot of it is because of systems/geography..but not all of it.;.like most in Europe don't use a dryer..

Carter Semple @cartersemple.bsky.social · 26/07/2025

Are you putting these points up for debate or likes? Lol. Like better understood by Historians ? Or in popular imagination ?

Carter Semple @cartersemple.bsky.social · 26/07/2025

Thats a Good way to put—its good history depending on what type of questions your asking, if its to learn about the context of the time then yes …….as often the statues themselves can be wildly inaccurate.

Fair point, however, his Vietnam series was great - so long as one does not use it as their sole understanding of the War.

Im happy to delete my reply to your original post if you want the incessant abuse to stop lol- i was just curious how far it goes, sort of like masochist/anthropology experiment. Like my comment on your comment is still getting reposted. I think its split between bots and real people

Carter Semple @cartersemple.bsky.social · 21/07/2025

You ever read CJ Chivers “The Gun” - pretty interesting story on the development of the M-16 (and how crappy the initial versons where) in response to the AK-47 (with a decent amount written about that weapons history as well)

Wikipedia- which is never wrong- says they still have a bit of old soviet stuff. And they appear have quite a few Russian made helicopters and small arms ..

Carter Semple @cartersemple.bsky.social · 21/07/2025

Clear for many, however, I fear there is a sizeable portion of folks who still think the "Deep State" is manipulating all the things. Case in point - it appears that many have swung back to Trump's side after he claimed the WSJ had fabricated the Letter article & the epstein evidence is "doctored"

Ya, I may or may not have come back from Connecticut to France with a dozen bagels in my luggage....(always best to pre-cut for freezing) They also are not as big into peanut butter, but that is a different thread.
