Ah, the flashbacks to the first movie reminding me how distractingly sexy Dwight Frye's stubble was.

"A monster created from ceh-daaaarvers" I didn't plan this but so far I haven't watched anything from later than the mid 80s

Eh, I'd give it 7/10, biggest weakness is it's very tell don't show with Lovecraft's bigotry (Which...I get that writing that stuff directly sucks but if you're going to address it then it's kind of anemic not to)

I've heard the story I just didn't know about any rerecording

Too poor for another Gally currently (or much Big Finish either 😬) Otherwise life is mostly stable and I managed to write something for the first time in years so, optimism!

Idk what it says about the circles I move in but the issues with this scene and episode(s) have never really been shied away from The last time I saw someone bring it up was in the context of "Can you guys please stop posting this in reaction to what's in the news?"

020

Carrick Nisbet @carrickoftheord.bsky.social · 07/10/2026

Eh, I've seen people ribbing this scene as overrated and not especially applicable for years

100

Carrick Nisbet @carrickoftheord.bsky.social · 07/10/2026

I do sometimes go back and watch a scene to remind myself of when it had good dialogue but rewatching even a full episode feels implausible

Carrick Nisbet @carrickoftheord.bsky.social · 07/10/2026

They're very bad at dealing with jokes, then again, they also insist on writing about living people in the past tense so that's barely cracking the neuroses

I have not watched past s2 for him and...look, f**king amazing actor, I genuinely marvel (heh) at how good Vincent is at his craft, but as a character I've never felt eager for him to be around (Taste bias, my own idea for a character in the same archetype has him get decapitated in two scenes)

Fair point with the Valeryons who are with Stannis by default but no one really cares. The Hightowers stay super rich and powerful but (wisely) keep their distance from the throne, they're only in the narrative by being the mother of the current generation of Tyrells and Jorah Mormont's ex-wife.

Typed 'ATLA Netflix' into the search on here and the first result was fanart of (animated) Zuko and Sokka cuddling in front of the TV so I'm going to take that as a bellwether for the impact the new show is making
