One of the concepts for the 90's fighting game project, meant to combine various real archetypes of that era, from Street Fighter's worldly rep, to DarkStalkers' monsters: a tall, muscular Slavic Nosferatu-style vampire SAMBO/Sombo fighter. Loves chess too. Thinking of making him a "friendly" sort.

Was reminded by @tibi.pictures of the Bouba And Kiki Effect character designs people were trying out a week ago, when the world was melting more than usual. Now I can draw a seagull and young walrus, in a style vaguely like an old public-access European cartoon.

Reverse image search led me to this enemy in the Keroro Gunso franchise, that seems to match the thing in the right corner. Apparently there was some side story that re-imagined the characters in a Sengoku period. (Arrow in the image is not mine) en.namu.wiki/w/%ED%8C%8C%...

Forgot to post more #characterart for the Fake 90's Fight Games project. Vvarious non-final designs for a futuristic 90's USA biker girl. Some resemblance to Penelope Pitstop is necessary, but must be balanced with JP cartoons like Gatchaman's Swan Jun, and 90's USA actresses and female wrestlers.

Another character in the Fake-Old-Fighting-Games Project. A Brazilian pro wrestler, themed after crocodile and alligator wrestlers, even if all he has around is caimans. This selection of test sprites and concept art spans three or four years of slow refinement and exploration of the character.

Quick scene concept from a few days ago, to try emulating fighting game stage designs. Drawn in Krita.

Time-themed scene with beige and amber colours. A giant slightly-cracked angled sundial triangle, in the center of a circular floor with lines radiating halfway from the floor's edge towards the triangle. The triangle's long geometric shadow is cast at ana ngle independent of the ambient light. A somewhat-large melting watch-clock hangs off the top of the triangle, almost at it's pointy tip. A second closer melting clock on the floor, is propped up against the right edge of the screen. A third enormous melting clock in the background beyond the floor's edge, pours into unseen depths almost like a waterfall, while more melting clocks are visible further up and in the distance of the scene. Behind the triangle to the center-left, far away, a colossal pendulum is in mid-swing, with another melting clock hanging off the top of its disc. In the distance to the center right, an enormous gear, half-hidden behind a giant hourglass. The giant hourglass has sand pouring out of a crack, which then falls upwards as a spiral column, into a twisting dust-cloud vortex in the yellow sky.

Alright smartass so what would a sea witch for these mermaids look like? Rude but glad you asked. Let's make one sea witch be a sentient tentacle cause of all the stories of tentacles having their own brains. Also turn the tentacle tip into a witch hat, and never look up if that's been done before.

More mermaids I drew at some point. An angler-fish, manatee, & hammerhead, to go with the seahorse ones. This time drawn with the #drawpile app (but solo & offline). Sometimes I prefer drawing them with legs, other times with tails. Perhaps they buy temporary-leg potions from seawitches.

Finally got around to finishing this. Fan art of my good friend @tibi.pictures 's original character Stella. Drawn in #krita, with post-processing done in the #Blender compositor, somewhat confusingly.

Thinking about mermaid designs today,so I mentally dug up very old ideas for sapient land-seahorses hopping on their tails, and just tweaked it into two attempts at seahorse mermaid designs. The generic mer-bikini-top could be better.

I haven't checked how many have drawn the Bibinba Koopa (bsky.app/profile/mari...) people are reacting to, though from pattern recog, I can assume a few. I think I lost some of the original vibe here, even if the recurring heart shapes I added can sell the 90's Girl Version Of Guy aesthetic a bit.
