Update to this: it simply does not work if you watch this before Episode 23. In episode 23, Kasumi pretends to be afraid of ghosts to mess with everyone, and at the end reveals she thinks ghosts are really cool. In the movie, she pretends to be a ghost to scare the footsoldiers!

It's an excellent contrast. Kaufmo's died, and everyone in the circus knew him for who knows how long, but everyone there seems totally unaffected while Pomni's the only one who cares. It's an incredible horror beat (because underneath the veneer this is very clearly a horror show)
