Coming Monday: AI is moving beyond answers and into action — but autonomy only matters when the right boundaries are in place. featuring Carol Stephen John W Lewis LazBlazter #DigiBlogChat

A7. The challenge used to be building agents but the entry level is lower. The emerging risks are uncontrollable spend, lack of framework for securing data, so we see direction in IT services being more this. #DigiBlogChat

It's already happening here. The people being laid off have the knowledge and wisdom to make the decisions and analyze what should happen. Then they get rehired at a higher salary. The decisions are being made by those who shouldn't be making them: the bean counters. #DigiBlogChat

A10 #DigiBlogChat Who knows?! I expect that people will find that the most useful applications are different from those expected today. For example, in the software world, everyone seems to focus on generating code, but my experience is that by far the most useful application is in fault diagnosis.

A10b Agentic AI could change digital work by shifting AI from a tool that waits for instructions to a system that can move work forward. The real advantage won't be autonomy alone, but knowing what to automate, what to verify and where humans still matter. #DigiBlogChat

A10. In 12-18 months? Massive unemployment. Jobs will be given away to the AI and there’s going to be a lot of issues. Then they’ll have to rehire a lot of people. It’s all about the bottom line. I'm already seeing it here. People are worried for their jobs. #DigiBlogChat

True, but it's all just trying to control the processing based on text ("natural" [but to whom?!] language), even in fields where that language does not apply. What happens when I ask an LLM: "What's two and two?' ... or similar more complex questions? #DigiBlogChat

A7: The top risks are compounding errors, e.g. where a hallucination poisons the process, runaway execution loops that potentially rack up API bills, and security vulnerabilities like prompt injection when agents process untrusted public web inputs. #DigiBlogChat

A6: Quality control requires explicit style files, prompt chaining, and evaluation loops. Give the agent strict negative constraints, e.g. "never use these words", and pass outputs through a "critic" agent to rate brand etc and keep hallucinations in check. #DigiBlogChat

Q6 #DigiBlogChat People forget that current AI systems are **language** models!! They manipulate text!! AI systems of the 1980s would not be making these kinds of nonsensical mistakes/hallucinations/confabulations ... they were "expert systems" operating on rules specified by subject domain experts.
