Al #DecidimFest2024 vam fer una col·laboració amb @versolibros.com, de la qual ha sortit un llibre, que avui ha aparegut com un regal inesperat, al #DecidimFest2026.

Una mano sostiene el libro «Planear la salida: coordenadas para transitar el capitaloceno», con una flecha naranja sobre fondo azul oscuro y tono sobrio.

Este libro comenzó a gestarse en 2024, en el antiguo Canòdrom de la avenida Meridiana de Barcelona, que es hoy un Ateneu d'In-novació Digital i Democràtica. El edificio acoge cada otoño el Decidim Fest, el encuentro anual de la comunidad que sostiene la plataforma homónima. Decidim nació en 2016 como un proyecto público-común de software libre para la democracia participativa, heredero directo de las ideas y prácticas que el 15M había cultivado en las plazas y en las redes. Fue lanzado por un ecosistema poco habitual de programadores, hacktivistas, académicos, funcionarias, técnicos municipales y vecinas, y hoy lo utilizan más de quinientas instituciones en decenas de países de todo el mundo.
Decidim es una red tecnopolítica, un proyecto que solo se deja describir si se distinguen tres planos que operan en conjunto -el político, el tecnopolítico y el técnico- y si se acepta que ninguno de ellos es un envoltorio neutral de los otros dos. En el plano político se sitúan los procesos facilitados por la plataforma, que la desbordan y que conectan con la vida pública de decenas de ciudades, países,

But there’s a catch: a public institution is not supposed to be run like a digital startup. Silicon Valley may have carved out a niche in which its organizational philosophies mastered food delivery apps, AI girlfriends and money-laundering shitcoins, but the moment they take these methods to institutions entrusted with public welfare, they’ve lost the plot. Governments don’t have customers – they care for citizens. If classical liberalism had the state and its many sovereign institutions, and neoliberalism had the divine hand of the free market, today’s platform class elevates computation as the ultimate arbiter of truth. When presented with an institutional force, the platform class first asks: how could this be delivered by way of a digital platform?

In the private sector, since capital is no longer free after the federal government hiked interest rates in 2022, the growth of the big Silicon Valley platforms have almost completely stalled. In search of an answer, Silicon Valley is making a big bet on AI, overwhelming users with automated answers that hallucinate and mislead at every turn. It’s becoming harder and harder for the average person to buy what the digital utopians are selling.

There's the genocide you know. The kind that stains your screen. Blood, rubble, numbers. You count. You shake your head. You post, if you feel like it. Maybe you make content that marginalizes it, fits it into something digestible. You add a song to blur it out. You Al it to make it look cleaner.

And then there are the sub-genocides. I can't even begin to count how many. There is the brutal genocide of slicing the social fabric clean through. Where your whole world falls apart. Where people you once loved and trusted shrink into creatures you no longer know. You no longer trust. And there's the genocide of loneliness and silence after the grief gets too heavy to carry together. They multiply in the dark, quietly. They are hollowing people out and killing them from the inside so their death is no surprise to them before the world even sees it. Before the world starts counting. And this is all executed by the same killing machine.

No suelo usar el concepto de esperanza porque está muy relacionado con el concepto cristiano de esperanza. Y no de luchar. Y nosotros somos de la lucha. Es la única manera de conseguir bienestar y efectivamente, de crear espacios habitables. Desde una perspectiva donde la lucha es imprescindible para el bienestar, la lucha nos da alegría. No nos da bajón. Ahí es donde entra la esperanza, ¿Por qué? Porque si no hay lucha disciplinada, no va a haber esperanza.

Amsterdam presenta un pla per a l'autonomia digital
El municipi està prenent una sèrie de mesures concretes per reduir la dependència de les empreses tecnològiques americanes.
El regidor Alexander Scholtes (ICT i Digital City, D66) va anunciar dilluns com Amsterdam vol esdevenir menys dependent de les grans empreses tecnològiques. El municipi vol fer de la independència digital una condició per a noves licitacions i busca una alternativa a la plataforma en núvol Azure.

Un informe provisional que Scholtes va enviar al consistori l'octubre de 2024 mostra que Amsterdam, com gairebé tots els municipis, depèn dels grans proveïdors de TI per a serveis com l'entorn del núvol, l'ofimàtica i la gestió de dades. En el cas d'Amsterdam, aquests inclouen Microsoft, Salesforce, SAP, Centric i PinkRoccade.

Aquesta dependència no acabarà automàticament, mostra l'estudi. És per això que Amsterdam està prenent una sèrie de mesures concretes.

Enfortiment de la cooperació nacional i europea
Amsterdam té previst connectar-se activament amb la visió i el marc polític per a l'autonomia digital i la sobirania del govern, que el Ministeri de l'Interior i les Relacions del Regne (BZK) publicarà abans de l'estiu del 2025. La visió i el marc polític formen part de l'Estratègia de digitalització holandesa (NDS). La política de núvol i l'estratègia d'aprovisionament d'Amsterdam estaran alineades amb les ambicions de NDS.

Independència digital
La independència digital és una condició per a les noves licitacions de serveis digitals. Això s'aplica, en primer lloc, a les properes licitacions de Public Cloud i HenT (allotjament). En la licitació dels serveis de núvol públic, l'ajuntament sol·licita "Un contractista excel·lent que sigui capaç de fer-se càrrec, gestionar, mantenir i desenvolupar encara més la prestació del servei actual al núvol públic de la ciutat (Azure)". El contracte inclou l'opció de rebaixar la compra de serveis. El municipi desenvolupa criteris de compra en col·laboració amb l'Institut AMS i el VNG. Es va provar un prototip d' eina de compra per a l'autonomia digital amb l'Institut AMS .

Control sobre les dades
Contractualment, les dades emmagatzemades romanen sempre en propietat del municipi. El principi també és que les dades segueixen sent propietat del resident d'Amsterdam i que s'emmagatzemin el mínim possible. Aquest emmagatzematge es fa d'acord amb les normes generals.

Programari de codi obert
El municipi col·labora en una prova de concepte del programari de col·laboració de codi obert del govern . Es tracta de programari per al lloc de treball, inclosos els programes de correu electrònic, processador de textos i fulls de càlcul. "Farem propostes concretes d'experiments de programari que utilitzem per a la interacció amb els residents d'Amsterdam per als nostres serveis", escriu el municipi.

Estratègia de xarxes socials
Juntament amb els agents socials, Amsterdam està investigant com poden reduir la seva dependència de les plataformes de xarxes socials i si són possibles alternatives sense perdre el contacte amb alguns dels residents. Amsterdam està afiliada a PublicSpaces , una coalició que fa anys que aposta per alternatives a la gran tecnologia.

We urgently need anti-fascist technology

The operations of Proton have always reflected our neutrality. For example, recently we refused pressure to deplatform both Palestinian student groups and Zionist student groups, not because we necessarily agreed with their views, but because we believe more strongly in their right to have their own views.

It is also a legal guarantee under Swiss law, which explicitly prohibits us from assisting foreign governments or agencies, and allows us no discretion to show favoritism as Swiss law and Swiss courts have the final say.

The promise we make is that no matter your politics, you will always be welcome at Proton (subject of course to adherence to our terms and conditions). When it comes to defending your right to privacy, Proton will show no favoritism or bias, and will unconditionally defend it irrespective of the opinions you may hold.

This is because both Proton as a company, and Proton as a community, is highly diverse, with people that hold a wide range of opinions and perspectives. It's important that we not lose sight of nuance. Agreeing/disagreeing with somebody on one point, rarely means you agree/disagree with them on every other point.

I would like to believe that as a community there is more that unites us than divides us, and that privacy and freedom are universal values that we can all agree upon. This continues to be the mission of the non-profit Proton Foundation, and we will strive to carry it out as neutrally as possible.

En noviembre, el programador y extrabajador de Twitter Benjamin Sandofsky escribía en un post acerca del “final de la era Twitter” y planteaba que la cuestión no es tanto si X perderá influencia o usuarios —ya lo está haciendo, pero es que además no es una cuestión “solo” de números— sino si su caída será estrepitosa o paulatina: “¿Twitter sufrirá una muerte lenta como MySpace o un colapso repentino como Digg? ¿Podrá un sucesor estar a la altura de su legado?”. Si se parte de esa hipótesis, los movimientos de salida, y el crecimiento exitoso de su competencia y las alternativas de software libre solo son consecuencias de un ocaso que ya se está produciendo y que comienza con unas pocas deserciones que van haciendo que la herramienta deje de suscitar interés y emociones a cada vez más personas.

Hablo de burocracia pero no lo es solamente. Es todo el entramado de tareas que las tecnologías digitales bajo fuerzas monetarias han vertido en nuestros días y que nacen de la conexión permanente. Porque, ¿cuánto tarda en contestar los 20 o quizá 40 mensajes diarios?, ¿los que le esperan a vuelta de vacaciones?, ¿cuánto en las respuestas de las respuestas generadas? ¿Y las que llegarán mañana y pasado? ¿Realmente es necesario estar hablando y haciendo todo el tiempo? ¿Cuándo nos convertimos en súbditos de esta lógica frente a las pantallas?

Yeah, I think partly what I want to do with, whether it's the definition or our common conception of imagination, is to insist that imagination is not a straightforward good. We often cluster imagination with words like play and creativity, and that brings kind of feel good vibes. What I want to say is there are very harmful forms of imagination, dominant imaginaries. One that I talk a lot about in the book is a eugenics imagination that looks at different groups, ranks them and considers some people more disposable than others. And so implicit in however you want to define imagination, I want us to leave room for the good, the bad, and the ugly and to invite us to invest more energy in cultivating forms of imagination that foster our collective well-being that reflect our inherent interdependence as people and planet. And I think to do that, we have to take imagination seriously. We can't dismiss it as flights of fancy or something that we kind of do if we have time when we daydream, but to say we need to carve out more space in our discourse, in our work, in our lives for imagination as a battlefield battle.

At this precise moment all of these services mention AI (a lot) and how it’s going to change everything. “Is your infrastructure AI-ready?” Microsoft Azure’s landing page asks. Google Cloud encourages you to “build what’s next in generative AI.” Two years ago their marketing materials mentioned web3 and the metaverse (a lot) and how it was going to change everything, and how if your business did not adapt you were going to be left behind—yet those sentiments no longer appear.
