With the Halloween visit to DLR only days away, I found online accounts describing that they believe they saw the ghosts of Walt and Roy in the apartment on Main Street. I want to be kind here because it is truly sweet that Walt's story has drawn such a hopeful crew, but ultimately only a dream.

I have had the opportunity of mentioning my trip to fellow cast members that started their career at DLR. To say they are excited for me to experience the *original* Disney Park and feel the magic as Walt envisioned it: well that's hard to describe! I agree incredibly, and can't wait for that plane!

Do you believe in ghosts? Turns out a young lady named Dolly died on the Matterhorn ride in Disneyland during the 80s. Cast Members love to keep the story going and insist on calling the area 'Dolly's Dip.' In the mind of the story, we have consistency with plot and keeping the story personable.

It's a curious thing to become a Disney Legend. Yale Gracey, a master animator for the company, earned not only the special honor of Legend, but also the Master of the house in Haunted Mansion shares a name: a one "Master Gracey," that is. What an honor to become a part of the very story itself!

I'm thinking about my upcoming trip to Disneyland Hotel and how I have my room booked as a preferred view. It seems like something that could be subjective, as someone who has not been to DLR yet. Perhaps that's what makes the story more thrilling though? A wonder of what might exist after a flight!

I will say one thing for sure - a theme park smack in the middle of hurricane territory sure seems like a unique moment. June thru Nov, we are apt to get torrential downpour at any given moment. The fastest I have seen it: 20 minutes. Cast members are able to get creative in making magic for guests.

Disney Springs has been thru a few name changes since 1975, but back when the area needed a little extra popularity, they utilized the seasonal fun by hosting a massive Halloween party, complete with a costume contest. A family environment full of age-appropriate fun is the way to improve the story.

The Halloween Party at Magic Kingdom is a time honored tradition that began in 1979 as a one night special ticketed event for almost $17. The fact that this event has grown so popular and so coveted for tickets just shows WDW cast members just how much families trust us with presenting a story.

Coraline (Disney+) has me thinking about how stories sometimes require death of the author, to remain fun & popular. This term, in literature circles, describes a detachment of the story from the author. The reason for this would be a possibility of the author participating in unseemly activities.

HalloweenTown High is a fun Halloween story on Disney+ that mixes family drama with high school with a mission to save the rest of the town as we know it. I love a themed story with this archetype bc it gets down to the fact that, no matter what generation, teenagers are always going thru too much.

I would definitely say that the Halloween party for WDW is more family & kid-friendly, but the DLR party is more marketed towards teens and young adults with slightly spookier content. In the mind of the story, it gives more content that fans want to be part of, while separating choice material.

New Orleans is full of scary tales of which The Haunted Mansion is only 1. The remake slides past a point that makes the story quite interesting - The Mansion just came to be in the Gracie family property in the 18th century; a century famous for mysterious deaths to lay claim to not-your-property.

Today's Halloween post: the Evil Queen in Once Upon A Time being mad enough to send her people to a faraway land with no memories and no way back....this is a cursed story full of lies & creatively destructive paths. Maybe not a Halloween tale at face value but a nice tale for reading the campfire.

Halloween is upon us!! Today we speak on Hocus Pocus which is set in Salem both in 1693 & 1993. Theming a Halloween movie over a much-discussed piece of history could increase who might be interested in watching our stories as well as giving fans a different medium besides cartoons or stop motion.

Something I noticed today was the little character pin that goes on your cast name tag! One of my fellow friends at my location has a Tinker Bell pin, so she has created happiness within the company for 25 years! Dedication to the story is how I'm looking at that level of commitment!

I think I may have touched on this slightly before but Disney+ & Hulu pairing together really gives the Disney family a broad horizon. Who knew that one day Glinda might be an honorary Disney princess? For the story, it makes our streaming service more marketable by offering more IP outside Disney.

A rose by any other name would still smell as sweet. Did you know Mickey and Minnie's Runaway Railroad was almost called The Great Movie Ride. Stories operate the same way, sometimes it takes a few tries to get the title right, but through those iterations, you have opportunity to improve the story.

Believing in your dream is sometimes all you might have. Walt Disney paid for his first blockbuster full length animated film by performing as a one man show. Years later, when this film turned out to be the best thing to happen to a new film house, I doubt Walt ever forgot his humble beginnings.

A snow themed water park was where I was today! I love a solid dose of irony! The only characters of regular IP were the little snowball guys from Frozen. I remember going in high school class trip. A classic water park can clearly be fun for the whole family in FL so it makes sense in our story.

Fairy tales always seem to have a happy ending. It makes for a great story because your mind can rest easy because the characters with whom you may have connected, are happy and safe. Why do we read books with such problems to begin with? It feels relatable & makes our daily worries feel understood.

Disney Spring has lots of fun with 3rd party vendors like Vera Bradley, Uniqlo, & Rainforest Cafe. Ultimately, why not let other people nearby have fun? It broadens the story for the guest, giving them a different way to have fun on the relax/pause day of their stay, while still being in the magic.

In honor of Monstropolis construction being visible from my location's tower, I thought I might discuss the little monster named Boo. Her real name is Mary, as seen on the coloring sheets in her room. That's the same name as her voice actor; a simple way to include the people of Disney in the story!

Florida Rain - I call it character building, when I get caught in the tropical rain that appears out of nowhere and disappears within an hour. Disney is full of moments that alter our story, and learning how to smile and/or dance in the rain when you're going to get drenched either way.

Ever since beginning to plan my DLR trip, I've been noticing the Disneyland merch more than ever and I'm so excited how there actually seems to be different stuff offered. Ultimately, it makes sense for the larger story because it entices people to visit multiple parks through different offerings!

Refill Your Pixie Dust - our fun little vocab term for remembering that showing up at 100% takes effort. Some find this effort through sleep, some through overdoing it at the parks. Either way the WDW story at large needs cast members to be ready to show up at 1000% energy for the guests everyday.

The Wilderness Must Be Explored! Up, a movie where an old man & a little boy adventure to S. America. Russell's group explores ways to conserve the planet and grow into proper adults, though the adventure shows him much more of the real world. Animal Kingdom inspires ecological exploration everyday.

Part 3 - what looks better for the story though? Ultimately, it seems that's really where the families can differ. So many families invest their vacation in Disney bc they know what they can expect, while other families prefer art, culture, and history to give the children a rounded state visit.
000
Caroline W @carolinethewriter.bsky.social · 17/09/2026
Part 2 - Yet when I was a child, my parents wanted more out of the Florida vacation than just Disney. So we stayed off property, in Kissimmee, and adventured to St.Augustine, Cocoa Beach, Universal, and The Everglades. We did also go in between major traffic seasons (November) awarding nice weather.

I compare my two childhood trips to Disney World at least once a week now that I make magic at one of the resorts on property. Ultimately, staying on property creates a more cohesive story for your family. It's the way to do the trip when you go to eat, sleep & breathe Disney. Stay tuned for part 2!

Today I'm thinking about how my lunch was a lovely well-rounded meal with plenty of power for the rest of the day. It's a very simple connection to the story - food equals brainpower to make the right choices in creating the happiness of Walt Disney World.

This is more personalized towards having roommates at FCV. When something a roomie is doing is reasonably bothering you, think of it like a story: examine the reasons behind it to potentially see their side, then address the issue preventing the plot, and lay the groundwork for a finished boundary.

How many ears do you have? Everyone here has at least one pair. I'm a big fan of only getting ones that mean something to me. I really like Alice in Wonderland ones bc of a deep dive poetry project I did a long time ago. These many fun ears give each guest the chance to tell us something personal.

Duffy and Friends - this stuffed animal group is rooted in love, friendship, and innocence. What does this do for the story? This gives guests the ability to remember what it was like to explore fresh life skills, rediscover easy friendship, and reexamine what a pure hopeful life looks like.

Disney+ and SLOMW season 5 - it's an interesting dilemma because the DV Line items were awful and MomTok isn't always aligned with Disney values. However, it's popularity has reached an unexpected level & ultimately Disney knows what the people want. I think that's why there are only 5 new episodes.

Inclusivity in Storytelling - Bluey, now a part of the Disney family, is a Blue Heeler puppy learning all of the tough lessons a kid needs. A common creative writing technique is to use animals in place of people because then everybody can relate to the story. This is why inclusion is key at Disney.

Last night into this morning I had a mishap with my costume. Looking back, I'm grateful that I had the ability to text my coord to ask for help. Within the story, and in the onstage mindset, we sometimes need help with show integrity. Our guests invest in an experience, and we aim to fulfill this.

With the rain during both shifts today, I'm thinking about what that does for the story here at Disney. To be such a rainy day could be a bummer but it could be fun! Embrace being caught in the rain, stay a little longer at the restaurant, and gather some treasures at the shops. Find more to enjoy!

Disney Transit - my my do I love the Academy busses! I got the (lack of) opportunity to experience the Lynx bus, while going to the Outlets & we'll just leave it a renewed respect for an on-time vehicle that allows us to focus on the magic rather than arriving at work already stressed by transport.

Bibbidi-Bobbidi - the other extension I applied to is for the boutique at Magic Kingdom. This is another exciting opportunity within WDW because I would be actively partaking in the story by making princesses & pirates out of our young guests! I cannot even imagine how rewarding that work must feel.

There's a difference between being a leader and being a manager. In our specific story, our leaders allow their cast members the autonomy to do the right thing when noone is watching simply because they know how to do it right. Anyone who knows me, knows that autonomy is what I've needed to succeed.

Storytelling - something important from the last class is that my experiences outside of Disney have prepared me for the job I have today. Everyone comes into the DCP with a different story, and it was Walt's dream to combine all of these beautiful stories w/ each other to create the magic everyday.

Guest Relations - this is one DCP Extensions that I am very interested in applying for because I know how capable I am in Guest Service. I think that this would be the perfect challenge for me because I could combine my love for the story with my incredible guest service. Plus I look great in plaid!

Throughout training we get reminded to find ways to refill our pixie dust, both on and off the clock. To me, this is a reminder that each person hired by Disney has so much more than just a great work ethic, and ultimately, they want to make sure that the routine of everyday doesn't drag you down.

Keep Moving Forward - changes in the way small steps of procedures are often met with disapproval but are necessary to improve work flow. Similar to a great story, a successful operating business adds new parts and adds on necessary updates. A novel never makes it to the bookstore w/o edits.

Our blue IDs get a special extra that corporate extends to us for limited time only. So I got the opportunity to try Cítricos at Grand Floridian a few days ago, but that isn't something that would usually be in my price range. However, w/ said special extra, I can now tell guests about my night out.

I watched Coco for the first time and was incredulous at the amount of detail the writers installed. I knew Día de Muertos was a storied holiday with intricate history and details but Pixar really laid a new path by giving us a relatable family through whom viewers may experience the details.

This morning, at my location, we had a few procedure changes that aim to make communication w/ guests more efficient. Some people were not stoked about the changes bc it gives certain daily positions a few more steps. I don't mind the extra steps bc our guests are why the story continues everyday.

During Magic of Storytelling, we discussed how our roots combine w/ our personalities, to make each person their own unique story. That was a really special way to go about the Inclusion key. Every story being different allows for different communication styles & unique cultures to broaden horizons.

Today I got to hear about Tom Nabbe's life with Disney! It has been impressed upon me through this and other talks that when you make magic at Disney, take any opportunity that sounds like you could do/ learn the task because you truly never know when that could be your "in" for your life at Disney.
