iiinova — where your digital self keeps evolving

I don’t think we are miles apart. I think you can do both, but cautiously. Personally, I would rather move than have lodgers. There are stamp duty and inheritance tax implications for downsizing at the moment. I probably won’t let that stop me when the time comes as for me, lifestyle comes first.

I agree entirely about more supply being needed. But the point I was making is that all of the taxes that you mention currently incentivise older people to stay put in larger houses and we could make better use of the housing stock we have already (as well as increasing supply).

We have no mortgage so council tax one of our highest monthly bills already . I also think we should be subsidising older people to heat homes that are larger than they need

What about under occupancy. I am retired and live in a 5 bed family house with my husband also retired. We currently have two adult sons and one of their girlfriends living here because of the cost of living. When they move out, higher council tax could be an incentive to move somewhere smaller.

Really tasteless. AI? Or just no emotional intelligence.

I agree, it is seriously heartening to see signs that the threat of a Farage prime minister may be receding

They get part-time jobs which puts them at a disadvantage for available study hours

Early stroll. The sky has a flannel over its face. A blackbird’s alarm call rattles the morning. That upside down yogurt pot looks like an alien spacecraft. A bloke and I exchange raised thumbs. I blow my nose like the foghorn of a ship passing Girvan.

I agree with you about dual citizenship: more pointless racism. Thought you might like this juxtaposition from my feed😄

That surprises me. As David Henig says, hardly an uncontroversial celebration but we were more interested in the penny (to pay for fireworks) than the guy. Watching the guy burn was shocking but thrilling (real clothes!) Didn’t understand significance.

We stuffed an old shirt & trousers with newspaper and put on go kart to make a guy (but not every year). Does anyone still do that?
