I harbor a smoldering resentment towards game key cards and am contemplating making a list of all the Switch 2 titles that aren't key cards and trying to collect them if it's not too ridiculously large of a list

Got a big list of stuff to finish up this month! Took a different approach to my usual goal-setting and am focusing solely on finishing up ongoing projects. Probably won't get them all done, but you can read more about it here! carlthepumpkinman.substack.com/p/carlthepum...

Love how I specifically put my computer to sleep instead of turning it off so I wouldn't have to restart all the programs I left open but instead I got woken up in the middle of the night to it automatically restarting to update anyway *sigh*

The Wii U was extremely flawed in terms of how it was marketed and how it was overall utilized, but I think it's a shame that Nintendo largely seems to always innovate away from their past because having these apps or even a TV remote on the Switch would be sweet

Been thinking about how support conversations between units work in the GBA Fire Emblem games and it's kinda messed up that you can and will go through the entirety of the game without knowing that two characters are like long lost lovers because you didn't use them or they maxed their supports out

Ugh, fine, I'll do the thing! Alt text for some background

Brawl: never really played melee, and subspace is epic
Kirby air ride: go to multiplayer with siblings
Tomba: very nostalgic childhood game
Mega Man: I love Zero
Pokemon: as a whole I played a lot as a kid, but HeartGold I think was the best
Fire Emblem: first played game of a now fav series
Zelda: First Zelda I really got into
Mario: ditto for sunshine
Animal crossing: came with my DS and it was the only one I had for a while

Modified my Hori joy con charger to fit the nes/Famicom ones; I guess when they made it they didn't realize that there were some bigger joy cons out there so they'd bump against the base before touching the charging contacts I'll be uploading the 3d files for if anyone else has this specific problem

Hori four joy con holder with two new joy cons and two Famicom joycons charging

Aight video game hot take: "You control the buttons you press" is fine when it pertains to not choosing easy mode, etc, but it's not a valid counter to someone complaining how a certain skill or equipment trivializes a game

CarlThePumpkinMan @carlthepumpkinman.bsky.social · 24/09/2026

The new Fire Emblem is very good so far, but I really hate how recruiting new units in the series has moved away from figuring out who in your army can persuade them to join via one riveting conversation and instead boils down to just gifting them alcohol every week until the decide to die for you

So I think I've figured out a way to fix the monkey's paw situation where the genie tries their darnedest to grant your wish with side effects that will make you upset just add "In a way that won't make me upset in any way" to the end of all of your wishes

ugh. Currently designing a handheld mic for my DJI lapel one for fun, and thought it would be cool to add buttons on the outside so you can turn it on and off without removing it from the holder. Managed to do it, but they rattle around in there and the mic very clearly picks the sound up... sigh

CarlThePumpkinMan @carlthepumpkinman.bsky.social · 14/09/2026

hmmm... making a holder for my DJI mic where you can clip it in and turn it into a 🎤and am wondering if I should bother taking the time to design buttons into it so you can turn it on and off/link it without removing it from the holder or not hmmmm...

Thoughts on Ocarina of Time Remake: It looks fine! Like sure, there's a lot of bells and whistles, but at the end of the day it looks like a graphical and quality of life upgrade to a game that has already received those before (one that I've already played, too!)

CarlThePumpkinMan @carlthepumpkinman.bsky.social · 08/09/2026

Now that there's two directs rapidly approaching, I'm curious: How much promotional material do you consume before games' launches? I personally just watch Nintendo Directs and maybe a trailer of a separate game if it interests me, but other than that I generally don't go searching for more info
