This raises some serious questions as to the extent to which the BBC present digitally altered images as reality. This may just be a show about dancing but what policies do the BBC have in place so that this doesn't occur during it's news broadcasts.

From Sirdar's Modern Slavery Statement ... Almost like it's not worth the digital paper it's written on.
• the right to Freedom of Association
• the provision of a Health & Safety work environment,
• a non-discriminatory work environment
• fair treatment of all the employees.

Agree, signed and a member of the Green party. But this petition doesn't go far enough. If there are people within our health service who make decisions not based in science, none of us are safe - trans, cis, gay, straight, men, women. The people who made these decisions need to be sacked.

And this is the problem and why this letter doesn't go far enough. An organisation doesn't make decisions. Individual people make make decisions. Who are they, name them? How fit are these people to be in their roles when their decisions have a real life impact on people's health?

Agree. I think this is the gamble. This is Labour's last chance and they're betting on continuing with all the same policies and people that make them unpopular fronted by "This charming man".

She's good at angry face. In interviews, her angry face is brilliant which when she was in opposition worked just fine. In government she never seems to have worked out that her job is to fix things rather than be angry. For more angry face, see also Streeting and Kendal.

Surely all teachers who are being instructed to discriminate against transgender children by this guidance are covered by section 111 of the Equality Act and are therefore victims of discrimination themselves. This has to be an issue for the unions. www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/2010/1...

Fair play to her, she's got a point.
A TORY councillor who agreed to be struck off the teaching register after calling Nicola Sturgeon a “drooling hag” has defected to Labour.

Fife councillor Kathleen Leslie, who also led the local Tory group, said she decided to quit the party as she believed she was a “better fit” with Labour.

If Angus MacDonald wants to approach this with honesty and respect he can start by accepting that section 28 schedule 3 already allowed service providers to exclude transgender people from single sex spaces if it was a proportionate means of achieving a legitimate aim. He's just a bigot.

Excellent article. Thoughtful, well argued and based on evidence. We need more intelligent voices like this to be heard in this debate.

A sticky result. In theory lib/lab could form a coalition though historically they don't get on here. Nationally I would want to see us greens working in collaboration with libs but in Haringey they tend to be more right leaning while some of the lab councillors are more aligned to green thinking.

This bit got me. Labour are offering "Progress and a better future for the community you call home" while the Greens are only offering "empty promises". What exactly is the substance of the "Progress and a better future for the community you call home" offer?

World Athletics’ mandatory genetic test for women athletes is misguided. I should know – I discovered the relevant gene in 1990
World Athletics says its genetic test for women ensures ‘the integrity of women’s sport’ – but science does not support this overly simplistic idea.

Yes it does seem nasty, offensive, infantilising and infuriating because it is. And it pretty much accurately sums up all the shitty arguments used against allowing gay people to be themselves in the 80s and 90s. Though of course our legal age of consent was 21 not 25.

I think Mr Ben turned me gay. A quiet suburban man visits a specialist venue once a week, slips behind a curtain, puts on a uniform and has an adventure. C'mon. What's not to like.

This is a cartoon from 92/93 in Capital Gay by the brilliant David Shenton. I love the way he captures the age divide in the debate about using queer between the younger more radical gays and the older clone. Drawn with such affection and insight like only David could.
A cartoon depicting a row of gay people with queer on their t shirts and an older gay man at the end of the row with queen written on his t shirt.

Paying an entrance fee to a museum (no matter how small the charge) is a deterrent just like paying for a a plastic bag at a supermarket. It stops you from going in just because you have an hour to kill or you want some quiet time. It stops you from discovering something new, something fabulous.

This quote from Streeting is a corker. Puberty blockers Wes. Increase in trans youth suicide Wes.
People join the Labour party because of a belief in equality and social justice. Yet that very motivation conceals a danger. As George Orwell warned, belief in a righteous cause can easily become a licence for cruelty, deception and moral indifference. If you believe you are on the right side it is easy to turn a blind eye.

If the EHRC's guidance was legally correct then neither they nor the government would have room to manoeuvre because the guidance has to reflect the law, not make it. This whole article is an admission that the guidance is flawed.

I disagree. My sister in law was made redundant in her late 50s. Passed over in favour of a younger curvier less qualified woman. Her ability to "keep on working" was blocked by sexism. It was no fun for her at all. She died at 69 receiving only a few years of pension despite paying in all her life.

There is one thing that will be more damaging to this government than a wave of green wins at the next local elections, and that's a second wave of green wins a year later. This could work out well for us.

We used to have "consultations" whereby the NHS found out what people needed and then acted to meet those needs. Now we have a "listening exercise" whereby the only guarantee given is that it's anonymous.
"Our listening exercise with children and young people who identify as LGBTQ+ is to help us find out about their experiences of emotional health and wellbeing services so we can improve these services in the future."

“We would like to reassure people that responses to the listening exercise will be kept confidential, as per our privacy policy. We will record answers and use these to shape our services but responses will be anonymous."
