I was today years old when i learned about this horror.

Alligator hunting was very profitable in the 1800-1900's. The skins were used to make shoes, bags,belts and other items. However, white hunters often lost their arms and sometimes their lives as they bristled the swampy waters at night attempting to attract alligators to the surface, so they decided to use slave babies as bait. This horrendous act was later characterized in sheet music, post cards and figurines. Years later, a candy manufacturer of black licorice drops created a distasteful advertisement that featured a hungry looking alligator leering at a bug eyed black baby.
The ad read: a dainty little morsel"
For decades, the popular candy was referred to as "nigger babies". The name was later changed to "nibs" and is still on the market today.

Rinaldi was leaving a nightclub in Dallas, Texas, when a stranger came behind her and punched her in the face.

The assailant also hit Rinaldi's bridesmaid and left her with a black eye.

"A man she didn't know approached her out of nowhere and violently assaulted her until she was unconscious. She was left with a concussion, a broken nose, 3 broken teeth, and 8 stitches to her face. This horrifying attack happened just four weeks before her wedding," the page description reads.

"Just 24 hours earlier, she had told us she was having 'the best trip of her life.' That happiness was ripped away from her in an instant, turning it into the most terrifying and traumatizing night she's ever experienced."

She's left to carry the burden-with over $10,000 in medical expenses from the ambulance, hospital stay, and ongoing care that insurance refuses to cover.

"She is now trying to heal-not only physically but emotionally and financially-when she should be counting down the days to her wedding. Please consider helping her during this heartbreaking time."

As of Wednesday, Rinaldi's friends have raised $10,000 out of their $15,000 goal.

They only hang out at tribal events as they go to different schools and live fairly far apart (we moved off the rez a couple years ago). I was honestly not a huge fan of their friendship in the first place because of issues with the boy's family. But I wanted to be fair to my daughter and not interfere. I know the father is involved in selling drugs. That's not me being judgmental - I know it. He also has a "legit" roofing business - they live a lot better than most people on the rez and this boy likes to brag about daddy's money. This is a 13 year old boy who wears Canadian goose jackets. If you don't know how expensive those are, he will let you know. I know his mother because I used to work with her on the rez and had our kids around the same time. Anyway, my daughter went off with this boy and some other kids at the event. She runs back to me a couple hours later, in tears. She told me they were kissing, she decided she wanted to stop, and he slapped her across the face. She said he and his friends laughed when she got upset and said she was going to tell me.
