I'm keen to follow people who've left X entirely or don't post. AI no. Crypto no. Prediction markets no. Tech oligarchs no...too many things to worry about 🇦🇺🇺🇲

To all the influential people still posting on X, I'm so ashamed of you. You don't care clearly, but you have lost the trust of a lot of people. I will never trust your judgement or opinions again.

You know what I love about Bluesky? That everyone here genuinely values humanity to some degree. That everyone knows climate change is real, that society is exploitative, that people can have moments of poverty and struggle through no fault of their own. That everyone belongs. (Well, many of you

We just bought a new dishwasher and it was not easy finding one that wasn't hooked up to an app so we could do 'amazing' things like download future washing cycle choices wtf. We just wanted a dishwasher.

THIS SATURDAY join @paulbongiorno.bsky.social, psychologist Steve Biddulph and the Rev Rod Horsfield as we commemorate 25 years since 353 lives were lost in the SIEV X tragedy.
This image is a poster commemorating the 25th anniversary of the SIEV X tragedy and the 20th anniversary of the SIEV X Memorial. It invites people to remember the 353 asylum seekers whose lives were lost. The event is scheduled for 2 PM on Saturday, 17 October, at Kurrajong Point, Weston Park. The background features a view of the memorial's painted poles.

Living a moral life in an age of bullies requires collective action; it cannot be done alone. Each of us must organize and participate in a vast network of moral resistance. From this solidarity we will grow stronger. This is what our current moment requires.

And the rest of society has spent far, far too long thinking we're supposed to admire it. They are not better, or more interesting than us.

Who’s the one person who would make the biggest impact by publicly quitting X? (Has to be vaguely plausible, i.e. can’t say Elon)

Can I add religious figures. Just saw that the Pope posts there too. This makes me feel like an alien visiting this planet, understanding nothing.

I wish they could understand that he is not there for them, they are there for him. I don't think we regular people can understand how reviving this supply is for a narcissist. Like Dracula at a blood bank.

I'm wondering if X continuing to attract users, while doing the horrendous things it does, shows us that our world was pre-broken. I cant believe the number of politicians, journos, commentators, authors etc who stay there. I can't understand this mass decision to ngaf about the harms X causes.

I think about how easy Bessent's confirmation process appeared to be. He is clearly a shockingly bad person that seemingly sailed into his position without much scrutiny at all. I'm not American so forgive my saying..but those hearings..they're optics mostly..?

Yep agreed. $7:50 huh, ok I will be keeping an eye out for price developments. My main problem with the cafe I went to was they don't list their coffee prices anywhere, so odd! I didn't think about it until I heard the number. We mostly do coffee at home too, trying different beans along the way.

"Started to look delusional". That boat sailed long ago and the media should have reported it since the beginning. Denying an election, for example = delusional.

It's also not correct, what your dad said. Canada, Australia and UK are all very diverse. Australia has 50% of our population either born overseas or a parent born overseas and we manage a decent (not perfect) public health system.

I often wonder if Albanese has become a different person due to proximity to those with money and power. Some people don't seem to be able to withstand it. I mean I'm theorising from afar, but it's like watching hope drift away and it's bugging me why is he like this..?

I wonder if he thought the heavy coat gave him a military great-coat vibe. Wants to look like the dictator he aspires to be? Relatedly, his comments about how he wants "my people" to sit up at attention when he speaks (like in North Korea)...should be remembered more..

"I was never a decamp to Bluesky person". So, so many influential people are not "decamp to Bluesky people". I'm left wondering exactly what kind of people they are. It has been incredibly disappointing watching so many influential people fail this basic, fundamental test of character to stay on X.

That is excellent news and very interesting. I'll have to ask my SIL if she knows that. Maybe its because she is so lovely, she won people over :) but seriously, she had good convos with people & really listened & had interesting feedback.

I guess he's talking to those outer suburban seats that swung heavily to One Ntn. My SIL volunteered for Greens in Elizabeth at the state election & she said it was pretty stark how much people had gotten on the ON anti-immigrant bandwagon Sadly I'm not surprised by M. throwing the left under bus

I watched your video about this. It's not much help, but I was so drawn into your talk I stopped what I was doing to listen properly. I think it got my attention because it's rare to hear a moral stance on business decisions plainly stated like that. I wish it wasn't so hard, but thank you truly.

Thinking about the AfD result & their shoutout to Musk & wondering for the millionth time how all those so-called left-leaning commentators can stay on X. It's been a shock to see how many influential people whose opinions I once respected have stayed on X, seemingly without a care in the world.

While much of Australia is experiencing an early heatwave, it's pretty bloody cold here in Adelaide right now. So, a good night for my favourite soup in the world, white bean and bread, yum!
A bowl of white bean and chunky bread soup, from Lidia's Family Table cookbook. The bowl is olive green, sitting on a white paper towel, a pink and black bowl cosy, and a maroon lap rug. The soup is maybe too generously covered in parmesan and olive oil, and a spoon is poking out.
