Don't forget the matching British postage stamp from 60 years ago, which was a great example of "thinking outside the box".

Just south of this Atlanta intersection a big tree dropped about 7am. Blocking street still, hit two parked cars. Amazingly no one was injured.

Two tribute albums I hadn’t heard before. One to Dolly Parton, the other to Harry Nilsson. One is SUPERB. The other monotonous and dull. You figure out which is which!

The day of shame, two weeks ago. I’ve come to terms with it. The only day on the past two years when I’ve done less than my usual number of steps. There is a rational explanation but I won’t bore you with it.

Poor puppy. Lost confused and scared in the rain storm yesterday in Atlanta. Could not reassure it or get it to wag its tail.

So Shaky Knees in Atlanta was a washout tonight. The 4th song of the excellent Blood Orange set was interrupted by announcements leading to a full evacuation due to severe storm, lightning and torrential rain. Pierce the Veil, the Prodigy, Pavement and Twenty One Pilots sets all abandoned.

Had a 10 hour party today. About 55 people showed up. Some from China, Canada, Nepal, Uganda, Ethiopia. Had a 200 song playlist from 2001 to 2026 (in chronological order) ending with these songs. I’ll see the Cardinals (from Cork) live next weekend, at Shaky Knees festival here in Atlanta.

This book of interviews is absolutely fascinating! JP Dunleavy, Brenda Fricker, and (2 pages shown) John Mortimer. And many others. All courtesy of Eamon Carr (yup the drummer for Horslips in 1970s). My 9 hour flight to Atlanta has flown by. So to speak.

What connects Biffy Clyro to the Aran islands off Galway? Not much: but there is a tree like this near Dun Aengus.

Samuel Beckett’s Endgame at the Fringe in Edinburgh last nightew ET. Stunning performances and production. I first saw Beckett (Krapp’s Last Tape) at the Fringe, way back in 1976!! Made me a lifelong fan.

My first music haul of the day at Fopp in Edinburgh. I spotted it out the window of my bus from the airport and immediately flung myself off the bus. The new Dinosaur Jnr sounds very like Matthew Sweet!

Today’s haul at a classic Edinburgh used record shop (Vinyl Villains) which will sadly soon close after 42 years. The centrepiece here I’ve almost bought many times over the past 50 years, in many countries. Today was the day!

Sweet memories! Picking blackberries here on Tymon Lane in the early 1970s with my grandmother. She’d make tarts and rakes of jam. Now it’s inches from Dublin’s M50 but I still walk here several times a week. I just ate the ripest ones here and they are delicious.

Foclach from a few days ago. (Irish “wordle”) My iPhone no longer remembers my history here. Treats each day as my first. This happened before and I was able to fix it but I can’t remember what I did! It was some general phone setting Ideas?

I had a lovely 90 mins today in my local library (Walkinstown, Dublin), which I first used in 1970s. Was researching Irish meteorologists in newspaper archives and ran into this 1945 record of JFK coming here! (There is a sign in iconic Mulligan's bar in town about his visit there on that trip.)

Always amazed how cheap Chinese takeout is in Cork Limerick Galway (and Derry and Belfast) compared to Dublin. Much bigger portions too. Over 50% bigger!

I’ve been cooking Indian food since 1980. This is one of the best chicken curries I’ve ever made. No recipe. Lots of dried methi. Intensely spicy and fragrant. Tomato based sauce—no dairy or coconut milk. Hope I can remember enough to duplicate it. Would work well with chickpeas for vegans.
