Fuck, maybe he should have brought a jacket.

Well, that would completely defeat the reason he came out here to begin with. On second thought, he isn't even sure why he's out here anymore. All he's wearing is his shirt and pants, and here he is, laying out in the snow.

It's almost nice, he thinks. Maybe he hopes the snow will just swallow him whole, make him disappear. He pretends not to feel the bite in his fingers.

It would be nice, if he could just lay here for a while longer.

NADIR: RAIN AND CLOUDED, EXCERPT

There are no words said. The room is quiet, eerily so, save for the small, hushed sniffles against the blanked, and the beeping of the heart monitor in the back, like a clock, that ticks for the inexorable flow of time. There isn't anything left for him to do other than stay by her side now, waiting.

Horrible, this is horrible. His heart is clenching so much and this is the first time he's ever felt this broken. The hand in his is weak and limp, it doesn't help his predicament,

"Mom..." He cries, and only a small huff comes in lieu of comfort.

NADIR: FLICKERING EMBER, EXCERPT

"-tine..."

A voice calls from the outside, muffled by a tightly shut door. The girl does not stir.

"... I... I know, that this has been hard for you, but... I'm getting worried about you, I'm sure she is, too."

"Look, I won't force you to come outside. I just need to know you're okay."

"I'm okay," She responds at long last, her own voice ragged and broken from disuse. Or was it something else? She can't remember anymore. She doesn't even remember what day it is anymore, did the man on the other side of the door hear her at all?

"Oh, okay." Ah, looks like he did.

"I'll... leave you be, Your dinner is outside here."
