If you’re still using Google Chrome, I highly recommend you switch to Firefox. Chromium-based browsers are also no good since they all depend on Google’s chromium engine which they use to further their ad empire and strip your ability to block their garbage.

www.makeuseof.com/protect-your... Ads are malware. They waste bandwidth at the very least and at worst trick you into running malicious code. Big tech has shown countless times they are not interested in solving the “problems” when the problems translate to money in their pockets.

arstechnica.com/tech-policy/... Ad Blockers are a security tool. Big Tech has a conflict of interest in allowing all sorts of ads. Google has also been caught pushing malware to the top spot in Google Search for money with ad links.

The project’s goal is to test the viability of using constrained roots and continuous DNS validation as a trust signal for greater Certificate Authority governance. The CA part is just a vehicle for a much larger project that can be extended for use in Package Management and other utilities.

What I want this Pride month #berensart2026
a black and white graphic image. A dog holding a pride flag in its mouth is in the center of a frame. texts reads "I want a world where pride month is not necessary"a black and white graphic image. It shows a dog with rainbow mouth, but the mouth were rended and erased until the rainbow is barely visible. texts reads "I want a world where we weren't hurted, erased. I als wish to dedicate this panel to older queers and activists who fight to keep us from being erased.a black and white graphic image. it shows a dog running joyfully with a rainbow heart. The texts read "I want to just be then know that that's enough"
I also wish to dedicate this panel to queer people who's just being here and being alive and being enough.a black and white graphic image. It shows a dog sitting in fronts of grave stones that gradually turns into rainbow stars. text reads "and I want to lose nobody else"
I also dedicate this panel to those who are with us no more.

Test this out for yourself. Log into a Linux server and issue conntrack -F. Did your session drop? No? Exactly. Set it to 0 and repeat. Did your session drop? Yes? Congrats your firewall is now made of bricks and not toilet paper.

Things you should probably have in your sysctl on a public server and nftables is all you have in front of it. net.netfilter.nf_conntrack_tcp_loose = 0 Your firewall rules are 1-ply toilet paper without it. Easily bypassed by specially crafted packets.

Wanna do something similar but don't know where to start? github.com/hagezi/dns-b... I'm using RPZ zones for network-wide blocking but you can still get effective device-level filtering. You don't need to enable everything. I am using Multi-Pro, Threat Intelligence, and DoH/VPN/TOR/Proxy Bypass.

This is also just barely scratching the surface. There are much more dangerous programs that ignore the system-level DNS and "do their own thing". I've caught a handful of IPs bypassing my DNS redirect getting blocked at the firewall, and that doesn't include those that are hiding behind DoH.

I don't feel any sympathy for these companies. If you're gonna do this much tracking you might as well make the Internet free or pay for my bandwidth. Wanna act like malware? Get treated like one.

Just how toxic is the surface web? Here is a snapshot of the last 15 minutes. Within 15 minutes 88% of queries blocked at the DNS level are reported to be telemetry/invasive tracking and/or hidden proxies trying to direct traffic elsewhere.

All of this just to go back to my original question to you. Do you have any evidence of harm from children from attending such events?
100 0
Rix @caramelfox.net · 07/01/2026
I’m glad you recognize they are movies but you missed the whole point. All the movies I listed are rated “Parental Guidance” PG. We can agree that it’s weird but it’s also not illegal or wrong. Parents choose if they want their kids to attend this or not, that doesn’t mean it should be banned.

…audiences with children, we have lawmakers suing schools over having the 10 commandments be displayed in public schools. Kids have no choice but to be in school, it’s parents choice to let them go to the library and have people in drag read them a story. www.texastribune.org/2025/11/07/t...

I guess Adam Sandler and Eddie Murphy are pretty weird for their roles in Jack and Jill (PG) and Norbit (PG-13) respectively and of course Robin Williams in Mrs Doubtfire (PG-13). I don’t see them demanding anything other than requesting a public venue to act. If we want to talk about demanding…

The problem is Privilege. If you’re anything other than a White, Heterosexual, Christian Male any slight against you is justified because you’re different and that’s your own fault. I have no problem with traditional family values. I draw the line when people push those beliefs onto everyone else.

Adult weirdness does not necessitate harm, it promotes diversity and inclusion when different groups of people are allowed to exist in public and be seen. Parents do real harm to their children when they shame them for exploring, trying on different labels to find the ones that fit them best.

I do find it weird, but unfortunately I haven’t seen any evidence of drag queens forcing their way into libraries for story time. Could you share? Likewise, libraries are public meeting spaces that are open to everyone regardless of their race/gender/religion or age in a public environment.

Struggling a bit with my mental health as of late. It’s difficult to describe the feeling of spending holidays without important figures in your life. I don’t hold onto regret, I couldn’t have known what little time I had left. I just wish it could have lasted just a little longer…

That's also keeping in mind Bluesky is still in beta. I think it will definitely play into people's choice of where to go. Mastodon and the Fediverse have the benefit of time. They are ready to go now while Bluesky is playing a little bit of catch up.

Rix @caramelfox.net · 03/07/2023
Like the one problem I see that is hurting Bluesky right now is just the signup limitations. Bluesky is potentially missing thousands of new signups that are being picked up by competitors or the fediverse. The network effect will drive the traffic. It's just an arms race for now.

IIRC Jack is here directing the show in some capacity so I'd hope the lessons learned from Twitter can help Bluesky from repeating them. I think it'll definitely be interesting to see where people ultimately choose to move to once the dust settles a bit.

It brings a lot of the familiar UI back which I greatly appreciate. I think it's definitely a strong competitor, it should attempt to avoid repeating the same pitfalls of Twitter if they want to avoid recreating the same situations though.

I’ve used Mastodon on and off since 2017. I’m instance admin for one and in my experience it’s not bad, it’s just different. The big thing Mastodon doesn’t do is firehose all known instances into the federated timeline so getting started is a bit difficult cause the timeline feels slow.
