I love books and libraries! I'm a big reader of fiction, though I'm increasingly a fan of littler books and novellas particularly now I'm an MSP 📚 Today, I'm joining thousands across Scotland enjoying a #WeeRead with the Scottish Library & Information Council.

Right now the Conservatives are leading a debate at Holyrood saying we should support Rosebank and Jackdaw. We should not. We need to focus on a transition away from oil and gas, improving insulation and sustainable heating systems instead of pretending nothing is wrong and continuing to drill.
Pictured are anti Rosebank campaigners and Scottish Green MSPs outside the Scottish Parliament today. Cara is on the far right (not a sentence you’ll hear often).

It really gives the game away when the anti trans orgs are calling the election of the neo nazi party in Germany a "glimmer of hope."
A screenshot of an online article headline from "Inspecting Gender" by Genspect. The main heading reads: "Germany: A Glimmer of Hope for Sex Realists?" Below the title, the summary text asks: "Is the victory of the AfD in Germany a dark day for democracy or a glimmer of hope for sex realists? By David Allison." The bottom metadata displays the Genspect logo, "5 hours ago," and a "Listen" audio option button. In the top right corner, there is a teal "Subscribe" button alongside a circular profile avatar.

Thrilled that Scotland’s newest train station is in Balgray and will give folks nearby more opportunities to use public transport. We need to get our public transport systems fit for purpose for 2026, and that means more buses, more train stations, and better integration of ticketing. 🛤️ 🚆 😃
S7M-01351: Celebrating the Opening of Balgray Train Station

That the Parliament celebrates the opening of Balgray, Scotland’s newest rail station; recognises the successful partnership between the Scottish Government, East Renfrewshire Council and other key partners that delivered the station through the Glasgow City Region City Deal; notes that the station promotes accessibility and environmental sustainability by offering step-free access, lifts, secure cycle storage and a car park with electric vehicle charging points; celebrates that residents of Barrhead and nearby communities will now have access to better transport links with Glasgow and the wider rail network; notes that the opening of the station will improve access to jobs, education, leisure and attractions such as Dams to Darnley Country Park, and acknowledges the cultural, economic and environmental benefits of rail travel and the importance of improved public transport links in tackling the climate crisis and achieving Net Zero targets.

Submitted a motion this week to celebrate Occupational Health Awareness Week. Practical ideas for ways to enable folk to continue working, or return to work are essential, and can be life changing. For me it gave me confidence to continue working with a pain condition.
That the Parliament notes that Occupational Health Awareness Week is taking place from 21 to 27 September 2026, with a focus on communicating that occupational health professionals are experts in work and health, and encouraging people to use occupational health early; recognises the importance of integrating occupational health into workplace risk management and organisational decision-making to ensure that wellbeing is promoted, ill-health is prevented and employees are supported with rehabilitation and returning to work; highlights the resources created by the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health, which enable organisations to strengthen their occupational health management; notes the findings from its recent report, Fixing Sick Britain, which indicated that many workers lack confidence that they would receive adequate support if they experienced a long-term health condition, disability or mental health condition, with only 45% of UK workers currently having access to occupational health provision; notes and appreciates the vital work of Occupational Health professionals and organisations, and recognises their importance within the wider health and social care sector.

Completely agree with Cllr Collier on this. I cannot see how this proposed data centre benefits the local community, rather it takes a greenfield site, and extracts what it can for the profit of the few, at the expense of wildlife and our environment, with very few jobs and little community benefit.
