For Inktober, I’m sharing a few of the wonderful ink illustrations from Capyhero. In this one, Penda makes her bold entrance, and a friendship is born. 🌲🤎🩵🌲

How do authors and readers feel about a TRADITIONALLY ILLUSTRATED book cover? Is it too muted next to the slew of bright, digitally created covers on the shelves these days? We’re practicing our gouache painting skills as we think about the book cover for Capyhero Book 1! Here’s a practice piece!

BIG NEWS! We’re starting to work on the book cover for Capyhero! And in keeping with the all traditional art mantra, Nick (Capyhero’s illustrator @nicholoizos) has been brushing up on his painting skills.

What secrets does the Hooded Guardian know? What burden does she carry? In this chapter, we meet one of the secondary main characters of Capyhero. There are some unexpected elements here (like, why does a woodland fantasy with animal characters have a steampunk-ish sorceress dog!?)

Capy hears a voice… coming from down inside the well. Who could it be? #indieauthor

Spooky season is starting a little early for me… In this chapter, Capy meets the Master Weaver, Kariguu. And she seems particularly interested in his blue blanket… I love the traditional fountain ink illustrations we developed to show this face off moment. Check out more at Capyhero.com. 🌲🤎🩵🌲

This Zelda Ocarina remake trailer drummed up all sorts of feels for me. Zelda is one of my top inspirations growing up and for writing Capyhero. What are your top inspirations?

I really love how this page spread came out! It’s a very early moment in Capy’s adventure in Chapter 1.

An early moment in chapter 1 of Capyhero. Capy walks through an unfamiliar, quiet woodland and stumbles upon a strange, lone statue of a foot.
