Glenn R. Geist @captfogg.bsky.social · 18/09/2026The hidden assumption is that the government will employ better people and make better decisions - as they've been doing. 000
Glenn R. Geist @captfogg.bsky.social · 11/06/2026Again, we hear about taxing "billionaires" without mentioning that we're not proposing to tax their income but their property which usually has no constant value. We never hear that Wealth taxes around the world have failed. does anyone think this money would be used as advertised? Voodo economics! 110
Glenn R. Geist @captfogg.bsky.social · 23/05/2026You're responding to an argument I'm not making. Yes, a progressive income tax is desirable, but wealth taxes have proven to be counterproductive if not disastrous. 010
Glenn R. Geist @captfogg.bsky.social · 23/05/2026Again - it was a 90% top bracket with various deductions and exemptions but not a wealth tax. So much rhetoric is about being "fair" and doesn't mention taxing wealth and unrealized gains. 100
Glenn R. Geist @captfogg.bsky.social · 22/05/2026We've never had a wealth tax. I'm talking about income taxes and yes, the top rate was about 90% but hardly anyone paid that. The effective rate was about 39% Wealth taxes have largely been abandoned in other countries because they didn't produce the expected revenue and were hard to enforce. 010
Glenn R. Geist @captfogg.bsky.social · 20/05/2026Is that an excuse for not trying? Taxation won't do enough anyway, we have to do something about corruption. REMEMBER, wealth won't corrupt government unless we allow it. Start with Citizen's United. Move on to prosecution of bribe takers and insider trading.. REMEMBER wealth taxes don't work. 100
Glenn R. Geist @captfogg.bsky.social · 11/05/2026No it's not, but the hidden assumption is that it describes the US economy and although undue influence is undeniable - and it may be growing - I don't think it is an accurate description (yet.) Russia and China perhaps. 000
Glenn R. Geist @captfogg.bsky.social · 30/04/2026Cue the blame it on the billionaires club. Germany’s economy improved after Adolf Hitler became chancellor in 1933—but the recovery was driven by a mix of aggressive government spending, coercive policies, and preparation for war, not a normal or sustainable economic boom. Think about it. 000
Glenn R. Geist @captfogg.bsky.social · 05/03/2026But they didn't *say that. 10 yard penalty for fallacy. 010
Glenn R. Geist @captfogg.bsky.social · 05/03/2026Wasn't Iran a Democracy before we ousted Mussadegh? Was Democracy an imminent threat to the Eisenhower administration? 000
Glenn R. Geist @captfogg.bsky.social · 05/03/2026North Korea and Russia have been treats for much longer. Iraq was not - you lied about that. I think you're lying about this. 000

Glenn R. Geist @captfogg.bsky.social · 08/01/2026This is in direct contradiction to the law: From Title 1, U.S. DOJ Policy on Use of Force: placing oneself in the path of a moving vehicle constitutes officer-created jeopardy and undermines any claim that deadly force was necessary. 041
Glenn R. Geist @captfogg.bsky.social · 08/01/2026Title 1, U.S. DOJ Policy on Use of Force specifically forbids that action and includes: placing oneself in the path of a moving vehicle constitutes officer-created jeopardy and undermines any claim that deadly force was necessary. This was an open and shut case of murder. 0163
