A lot of really big scary crashes in motorsport this week - China GT, Porsche Sprint Challenge USA, Formula 1. It's amazing and truly a testament to how safe modern race cars have become that all of these drivers have been able to walk away from these incidents

I wanted to see some bullshit that race, but not THAT much bullshit 😭

That might've been the worst F1 race of the 2026 season so far...

Donkey Kong 64 was one of my favourite games as a kid, and I haven't seriously played it since my teens. It was surprising to me when I learnt a that a lot of people hated this game and how it basically killed the collecathon genre. Gonna to be very interesting to revisit this game as an adult!

This isn't a dig at Shen btw, it's just a reminder to me how shit our internet is here and how badly the NBN fucked up when "upgrading" the internet nation wide. They've only recently started to "fix" things but even then we are woefully far behind other similar countries.

000

Captain Rolfey @captainrolfey.bsky.social · 05/05/2026

It's crazy to me that, outside of Australia, this is considered "slow". For most of my life I've had internet that was at least half of these speeds and that was considered good. It was only recently that I even had 100Mbps internet, and then last year they started upgrading people to higher speeds.

Imagine my surprise when driving around in American Truck Simulator when I see this: a Holden Caprice just chilling at a set of lights. It's the fugly Chevrolet version that they exported to America though but I'm just gonna ignore that little detail (look how they butchered my boy 😭)

Before Anthem shut down, the boys and I decided to play it to see what this game was really all about and maybe learn why it flopped the way it did. This is the longest video I have ever made, go watch it! --> youtu.be/a8f8bGb-apU <--

When Nightreign released I had the stupid idea to defeat each Nightlord with 1 Nightfarer. Just shy of 9 months later and nearly 50 hours in the game, and I have finally done it. I am finally free...

Captain Rolfey @captainrolfey.bsky.social · 17/02/2026

Another town, this time the one for the snow biome. This one was inspired by the smaller castles you can find in Elden Ring Nightreign. It's definitely not "accurate", but I think I got the essence of it down especially with the bridge (I even put in a spot for Kale lol).

Been trying to make more interesting builds for towns in Terraria to work on my building skills. I really like what I've made so far! (no there is nothing wrong with my sun)

Joji's new album "Piss In The Wind" is actually fantastic. Reminds me a lot of his earlier work with In Tongues and BALLADS 1, but it also feels new and fresh in a way I don't know how to fully describe. Please go and listen to his new album!

I'm very keen to see where this games' story goes though and how things evolve!

000

Captain Rolfey @captainrolfey.bsky.social · 05/02/2026

It's definitely not bad, it's been good for the most part and I've even had a few laughs, but some sentences are a bit stiff and have that English translation weirdness to it and there's been a few times where sentences especially when going between characters haven't flowed cleanly and felt awkward

Captain Rolfey @captainrolfey.bsky.social · 05/02/2026

The gameplay with the D1AL is really fun; it's chill but also challenging, my kind of puzzle game! The character designs are great too, and the world building so far is very interesting. I would be lying though if I said there weren't any issues. Ironically, the dialogue is so far a bit hit and miss

Been thinking about Breath of the Wild a lot lately. Maybe this year I'll finally get around to making that Breath of the Wild video that I wanted to make forever ago

I haven't even gotten to recommending DAWs or plugins yet and I think I just typed the most important part of this So You Want To Be A Musician piece.

Whatever you decide to do, just do it because it sounded cool. Whether you're viewing this statement from the position of the level of education you want to have, or if you plan to start selling what you do on Bandcamp. There are a lot of people making music and the music industry is an absolute mess. The people that are meant to hear what you make don't always immediately find it and when capitalism tries to take control of every second of our lives, when something doesn't have a massive reception it can be easy to fall into this feeling like "My free time is so limited, this didn't 'do well', maybe this is a waste of time." This train of thought is poison, especially to art. The absolute most important piece of advice I can give you as a musician is no matter what, make your music for you first and foremost before anyone or anything else. You can be generous with what you make and give it away, but be selfish in the sense that you're making it because it's what you want to hear. I make a lot of ambient music and I give some of it away to help people sleep or calm down from how stressful The News is but before they ever hear it, the first reason I made it was because I wanted it to exist. Monthly listeners don't matter, your priority should be that you made something you wanted to hear, or tried to.
