I found something really interesting while checking out the AT (Bluesky) firehose: For some weird reason, the AT protocol does *not* validate any timestamps at all. This means some Twitter bridges can import tweets from the past, but then you got this. Some clients are posting FROM the future??

I fell asleep running the ATProto hose ingester and we got to around ~2M skeets. It froze and the query times are crazy high now. Maybe it was a mistake to use SurrealDB to store all this data. I need a better database.

managed to optimize my firehose consumer so now it's ingesting ~100 skeets per second. We have around ~110k in the skeet dataset chat, 10x this and we will beat the previous record!

Just wrote a Python script to get the bsky firehose stream and keep logging posts into a SurrealDB table. We are at like 10k posts in 2 minutes, holy fuck
