I that case, my take is most people won't be mad if they can tell that it was done intentionally and that it fits the game's vibe... which does kinda make me think regular kbm users should have a similarly "janky" experience lol

ah fair, I'm guessing a radial "menu" is either a cop-out or otherwise unhelpful as well then?

missing the visual context, but have you considered the potentially more devious option of the analog stick moving the cursor's position directly instead of its velocity? Not sure what that's called, but I always called it spring mapping. If you're selecting items, this might make it less tedious 🤷

This is the kind of rhetoric we need! Makes me want to try hacking together a low spec handheld from old EoL'ed tech

I'm getting a great tool I can easily shape to my workflow, easier debugging, and a wonderful community

same lol! it's also annoying to unbind lambdas, so this seems like better practice all around

CaperCube @capercube.com · 11/08/2026
oh THAT'S how you're supposed to do it I've been using lambdas for this 🤦

thanks! it's a super fun way to work, and it was kinda hard to not go too nuts with the arm movement, lol

I used Unity for solo stuff before their IPO, but never messed with many plugins at that point. That's so cool though, that sounds literally perfect for multi-parameter systems! I was pleasantly surprised that MIDI support is baked right into their input system. Though no input map support yet🥲

Yoo that's awesome! The kp3 was my first piece of music gear so even though I've thought about selling it, I never could. I've always wanted a reason to try doing something like this and thankfully Godot's MIDI support is super easy to use! I highly recommend it out if you have gear with usb-midi!

A fun side note, all of the character animations are done in-game. I wrote some tools to help us record controller inputs and used our game's event and key bind systems to control the camera and a bunch of other things

This isn't related to `load_threaded_request()` by any chance, is it?

I'm starting to think around the time OpenAI was bought by Microslop was when this all started heading south. The more I look at the insanely stupid AI application and layoffs, the more it looks a sloppy c-suite attempt at pulling the ladder up.

They really are, though at the scale the bigger models are now, we should have a separate category for Massive Language Models... which actually sounds quite appropriate when abbreviated.

imo hardly anyone would care or even know about AI if it didn't become a commercial tool built by and used for mas ip theft and scamming.

Well put! I think that most social media and character limits are not devices that aid in critical discourse, hence the favoring of quick hyperbolic takes. Also it may feel too risky for some to publicly discuss the nuances of tech that's been so horrifically used and managed.

Maybe these opinions are the fault of what people have come to expect from Steam early access. CRAZY hot take, but a game being in early access should tell you it's not finished, let alone balanced yet. btw, this is a very fun game actually, just expect more of a sandbox than a polished AAA game

If you believe this was just a "mistake": The PR that did all this changed "off" to "all" on TWO LINES, and was merged without testing/feedback in 4 hours. The "fix" was also 2 lines, after more than a week of backlash. There's quite literally no room to interpret this as a mistake.
A screenshot of the original PR's changes, showing changes from "off" to "all" in two places.A screenshot of a response from the approver (dimitrivMS):

Thank you all for your feedback, professional or otherwise.
Sorry about the regression. I will work on fixing this in 1.119.

There is a number of issues with the Co-Author functionality:
- It should never have been enabled when disableAIFeatures is on.
- It should not add attribution to changes that were not done by AI.
- We need to make sure it receives a more test coverage before change the default.

If you have additional (constructive) feedback, please ping me directly or open an issue.

I've just noticed they're usually pretty easy to author with javascript, and the standard supports a wide range of use-cases, so I'm just generally curious why support hasn't been adopted more broadly. But backwards compatibility is a big one imo

I'm genuinely curious, what's wrong with webp? Is the compatibility issue just an Adobe thing?

since Godot 4.3, I had this mac comparability problem with a web export, but all I needed to do was re-export with "single threaded" enabled.

Depends on how much you want entities / players to blend in. I love the classic look of the high-contrast textures, but it'll likely do a number on readability, but that could also be a good thing

if you want usability: flat. less decorative detail helps make the important details stand out. if you want visual appeal: lots of visible buttons looks cool

This is really cool! Will you be using triplanar materials in the end? The skewed UV info might be the only problem I can think of. I don't use Unreal, so I'm unfamiliar with the tools they have for UV data generation, but that might be an easyish fix

I was trying this out and noticed that the context menu takes longer to open every time. Mine now takes upwards of 3 seconds to finish opening 🙃

I did the same thing for similar reasons, and there absolutely are ways to do this! Having an artist's perspective is extremely important for making useful art tools. The tricky part is maintaining that perspective while also trying to solve the technical and design challenges as a dev.

There's something kinda magical about single page applications imo. I think we should throw out the rule book and go back to Flash-like websites.

If you don't care about SEO, performance, load-times, and probably a bunch of other things, you COULD just use Godot to make an entire website This is the same kind "wrong tool for the job" that made me fall in love with JavaScript

I think I should amend this; the Affinity team might actually have something good here. I'm not loving the AI angle, but they are quite clear they don't intend to train using their user's data. But Adobe just lies about not training with user data, so I wouldn't be too shocked if Affinity also does.
