I considered very light green and blue, but while planning the Marauder and Locust seemed to have bigger sections that lacked printed color entirely. I thought using only metallic silver for them would make them too dark overall, so I used pale grey for panels and silver on joints and no-color guns.

I think it could use some purple. When I made my attempt at it as a fairly new painter, I used Periwinkle Purple Speedpaint, which is their “Purplish Blue” - I am still happy with my colour matching choices, although I would treat the cockpits differently if I did it today.

An illustration of how AI does not understand what words actually mean:
The Google AI Overview for ‘Waid leaves legion of superheroes threeboot’

The text of the overview reads: “Mark Waid did not leave the Legion of Super-Heroes during the threeboot continuity; rather, he wrote the Threeboot series, which began with issue #1, later being renamed Supergirl and the Legion of Super-Heroes and the The Legion of Super-Heroes, before he was replaced by Tony Bédard around issue #31.”

This Perfectly Normal boy is the mini from the 3E box with a reattached arm, painted almost 30 years later. There’s gold and green-blue under the black, and there’s some neon yellow that would hopefully shine under black light (untested). High gloss varnish to resemble a xenomorph from Aliens.
A glossy black original sculpt Marauder. It probably should be matte, but what kind of self respecting eldritch horror doesn’t glisten? The neon paint can’t be seen on it, but it would hopefully give it a glowing yellow smile if you had a black light handy; this alt text is basically a metaphorical black light in lieu of me actually having one.

This is the Bounty Hunter variant, from a blind box out of the Mercenaries Kickstarter. It’s green to match the official scheme but minus its money symbols and checkerboard patterns. I use Speedpaint and those seem like they’d be a nightmare to do with them. I also painted the torso jump jet green.😬

This one is painted to match the Macross Glaug (macross2.net/m3/sdfmacros...). The autocannon turret on this is pretty droopy - I tried the hot water trick to straighten it out, but a few days later it was droopy again.

The Marauder. A #BattleTech classic, although when I opened the 3E box I thought it should have missile pods on the shoulders - at the time, my knowledge of BattleTech lore was mostly the front cover of MechWarrior 2.

You can see that the AC5 on the stock 3R Marauder is longer and thinner, with aeration holes on the barrel tip. (It also suddenly occurs to me that I have only assumed that they are a PPC and a Gauss Rifle to match the variants on the Alpha Strike card, but I guess I don’t actually know for sure.)

An older picture that I posted on Reddit earlier in the year with the mini photographed in front of the original #BattleTech Technical Readout 3055 art.

Last one for the night. Wolverines! I got started with the #BattleTech 3E box set after MechWarrior 2 came out, but the miniatures went unpainted until this fall. Some (most) of them have disappeared or broken over the decades, which is why I didn’t show off an old Archer.
Three BattleTech Wolverine miniatures. One is the classic unseen model painted in blue and grey with orange accents; it is flanked by two of the modern plastic sculpt. One of those is red and dark grey, like the Legion of Vega; the other is green and light grey.

Speaking of the Archer, here they are! The red and black one is the Morgan Kell from the Clan Invasion Kickstarter blind boxes. The green one from the Alpha Strike box is in homage to its Macross origins www.macross2.net/m3/sdfmacros.... #BattleTech

Starting with the Jenner IIC. They’re pretty bad in a #BattleTech game so they were painted early on. The blue and black one was the first mini I ever painted, along with an Archer in the same colours. The green and blue one is in homage to their colour art in the original Technical Readout 3055.

Almost finished priming my plastic #BattleTech miniatures, just four Savannah Masters to go. My primer ran out with one side to go on the four of these guys.
